With so much construction going on at Disney World, this popular resort has quietly been in the mix!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has been going through a refurbishment period for a few months. Even though they’re near completion, they will be undergoing another refurbishment that takes them into next year — let’s take a look!
With all the construction happening at the parks at Disney World, Animal Kingdom Lodge’s updates have been making progress without much notice. Earlier this year, on July 7th, Disney started refurbishing the Zebra Trail Terrace at the Lodge’s Jambo House.
The refurbishment of Zebra Trail Terrace is expected to continue through mid-September of 2025, with no official completion date as of yet. If you’ve recently visited the Lodge or are staying there now, you may have seen or heard construction going on.
However, just as this refurb was starting to wrap up, Disney announced more refurb plans with the resort that are going to be starting shortly after — and these are big. We’re talking refurbishment plans that last until 2027!
Beginning in October of 2025, guest rooms at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will undergo refurbishment. This refurb is expected to last through May 2026. Following that, refurbishment at Jambo House will begin in May 2026 and go through January 2027. Wild, right?! It looks like the Animal Kingdom Lodge will have some very nice room updates in a couple of years.
During the refurbishment period, all amenities will remain available, but guests may see or hear construction work. So if you’re planning a Disney World trip and want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you should still have access to everything as usual.

I’m nervous. Some room updates have been really great. But I was looking at some of the generic pieces that have been thrown in also. This resort HAS to retain all of its theming and dark woods and carved pieces. It would be tragic to go with sleek, generic lines.
