Disney World Just Dropped a NEW Burger at a Controversial Restaurant

Now, you might think that there aren’t a lot of great quick service options in Magic Kingdom, but there’s one that you’re probably not even thinking about.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe

That’s Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland. Yes, we know you’re not going to think of Cosmic Ray’s when you want something beyond a theme park burger and maybe some chicken strips, but we still think this quick service dining spot is completely underrated. Now, with three new menu options, we’re going to tell you why we think that.

Cosmic Ray’s has introduced a brand new burger. Meet the Truffle-French Onion Burger, which is an Angus Beef Patty with Braised Beef-Caramelized Onion Confit, Swiss Cheese, Parmesan, Crispy Onions, and Black Garlic-Truffle Aїoli served with French Fries for $14.99. Yes, that’s a fancy burger at Cosmic Ray’s, and it delivered. The beef patty is moist and juicy plus it’s a good size. the aioli adds a little acidity, but also a kind of vinegary flavor, too. It does have a hint of truffle flavor, but it’s not very forward.

Then you’ve got the braised beef-caramelized onion confit that’s super tender and adds an additional meaty taste. And it’s all on a nice fluffy traditional burger bun. The crispy onions add a nice crunch and then the parmesan cheese just sort of ties it all together. This is a burger we will order again.

So juicy

Next up, we tried the Hand-dipped Fried Chicken Sandwich for $13.19. It’s Chicken Breast with Honey Mustard Sauce and Pickles on a Brioche Bun served with French Fries. Unlike the burger, this is just okay — it’s fine. It’s not the best fried chicken sandwich we’ve had in Disney World, but that’s okay. We will warn you that the chicken patty is covered in pickles, so if you don’t like pickles, you may want to pick those off.

The chicken is juicy with a nice fried crispy skin. However, the sandwich itself isn’t very flavorful. There’s a honey mustard sauce on it, but it doesn’t add a lot of flavor.

A whole layer of pickles

Finally, we ordered the Classic Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken for $11.99. In addition to the chicken it has Mixed Greens with Tomato, Cucumber, Croutons, Shredded Monterey Jack, and House-made Ranch Dressing. You can also get this salad with Chicken Strips. We went with the healthier option and it’s nice that you can choose. The vegetables are bright and fresh. You might also want to note that the dressing is already mixed into the salad, rather than served on the side.

The grilled chicken is also juicy, although it’s served cold (we’re guessing the chicken strips are probably served hot on this salad). We appreciated the cold because that’s nice when it’s hot out. The croutons are nice and crispy, and you can tell they were homemade with real bread. They also have some nice seasoning. This may not be the best salad in Disney World, but it hit the spot.

The grilled chicken is good

One thing we have to say about Cosmic Ray’s is that it has a menu sure to please everyone in your group, even picky eaters. You’ll also get your food pretty fast here plus it has Mobile Order. There’s plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. But of course, the real reason to visit Cosmic Ray’s is for those sweet tunes by Sonny Eclipse, right?
