REVIEW: Magic Kingdom Just Upped Its Lunch Game and We’re Here for it

No one’s slick as Gaston. No one’s quick as Gaston. No one’s ham and gruyere sandwich is as good as Gaston’s.

Gaston’s Tavern

That version may not have been the one to make the movie, but it’s certainly the one we’ve been singing since we got our hands on this sandwich. Gaston’s Tavern kicked their Ham and Gruyere Tart to the side and welcomed a new version that, not to be dramatic, might be our new favorite treat.

Meet the Ham and Gruyere Sandwich for $10.79.

YUM!

This sandwich is made of a crispy croissant dough filled with ham and gruyere and served with chips.

The menu

What a great savory dish! When we took a bite, we tasted the saltiness of the ham paired with the runny cheese. There are a few slices of thinly sliced ham stacked, so you get thickness without having to deal with thick-cut slices, which we loved.

Inside

The cheese was everywhere, just how we like it. The longer it sat, the more it melted, and it was soon running out. It caused our ham to slide out a bit, but we didn’t mind.

Ham and Gruyere Sandwich

For the size, it’s a great lunch or, if you split it, a fun snack to hold you over till dinner. While we love our sweet treats all over the parks, it’s nice to find a savory Magic Kingdom snack.

This might be a new go-to lunch in Magic Kingdom, and we aren’t mad about it. While Gaston’s can sometimes feel a little bit out of the way, it’s so worth it for this sandwich.

  1. We have only had the large cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s. I am looking forward to trying this new ham and cheese sandwich.
