Disney Quietly Confirmed Something NEW Is Coming to an Abandoned Desserts Shop in Magic Kingdom

There are TONS of new attractions coming to Magic Kingdom in the coming years.

Villains Land is being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Piston Peak will start construction in Frontierland next month, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close later this year to undergo a refurbishment, the list goes on. Now, there’s a NEW addition coming to Magic Kingdom that Disney has quietly just announced, and it’s in a building that hasn’t been used in YEARS!

Disney just quietly announced on its website that a new hat shop, Prairie Outpost, is on its way to Frontierland! Here you can “Become a fashion pioneer when you shop for wide-brimmed hats, classic fedoras, customized headwear, and more at this stylish shop in Frontierland.”

If this name sounds familiar, it’s because years ago, this shop used to sell sweets! In the past, you could buy bulk candy and pre-packaged Disney Parks treats. This storefront closed along with the rest of the park during the 2020 COVID-19 closures, and hasn’t reopened since.

Now, we know Disney is planning to reopen this storefront as a hat shop, but there’s no official opening timeline as of yet. We’re hoping it’ll be sometime this summer, so as the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island bid us farewell in July, perhaps we’ll have something new opening around the same time we can look forward to.
