Attention, all Space Rangers! Tomorrowland is going through some changes, and we have some thoughts.

From a major ride refurbishment to something new around the corner, what’s happening at Tomorrowland?
One big change that’s been on our mind is the lengthy refurbishment of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

This ride is getting new ride vehicles, a new character, and new interactive game features. Feels like our outdated attraction is getting some love to start using the technologies of tomorrow.

The attraction is set to close in August 2025 and will open sometime in 2026.
From May 27th to September 1st, Disney World is getting new kid zones, which are opportunities for kiddos to interact with their favorite Disney characters. The kid zone in Tomorrowland will be with Stitch!

There will be entertainment offerings, games, music, and dance parties, and we know Stitch would love to break it down at the Tomorrowland Stage.
While these zones are meant to be temporary, plenty of pop-up experiences have become permanent stops at Disney, so maybe these kid zones will be around for a while.

If you’ve been to Magic Kingdom recently, you might have noticed that Astro Orbiter is no longer there. The ride has been removed for refurbishment, and now an empty area sits on top of the PeopleMover.

Disney hasn’t announced what its plans are with Astro Orbiter, if any, beyond the usual refurbishment, but it does feel a little strange to have the spinning rockets completely removed — and for so long.

TRON and Space Mountain are still running smoothly (well, maybe not as smoothly for Space Mountain, but no refurbishment notices for it yet), and the PeopleMover, Carousel of Progress, and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor are still operating. But is Disney looking at updating all of Tomorrowland?

Disneyland’s Tomorrowland is adding a new meet-and-greet for H.E.R.B.I.E. and his friends from Fantastic Four, and we would love for this experience to come to Florida.
Tomorrowland has always been difficult to improve because the idea of tomorrow is always changing, and technologies that seemed impossible in the future are now used today. Besides TRON, which opened in 2023, Tomorrowland hasn’t received any major updates, so it might need some new features to keep it fresh.

We think Tomorrowland is going to start looking a little different from now on. Buzz Lightyear is getting one of the most major refurbishments we’ve seen, which could mean a lot for the area in the future. And we wouldn’t be shocked if a big overhaul happens after Disney finishes working on Frontierland!
We’ll be watching for any new announcements and updates, so keep following AllEars for all of your Disney news.
