To say that something’s brewing over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a MASSIVE understatement!

I’m sure you’ve already heard about the changes that are coming to the park and what that means as far as what’s coming, and sadly, what’s leaving. But there’s one aspect to it all that we feel is getting overlooked with all the buzz around the announcements, and it’s going to be a MAJOR problem that will definitely be coming to Hollywood Studios.
As we were saying, there’s something brewing over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it’s going to create a MASSIVE problem, so we’ve gotta talk about it ASAP! Of course, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed it, we’re talking about the potential of having simultaneous closures of both the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster and Muppets Courtyard.

As you already know, Disney recently confirmed the location of the Monsters, Inc. land at the south side of Hollywood Studios, i.e. exactly where Muppets Courtyard currently sits. And we know the land will be bringing Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster which will recreate the door vault scene from the Monsters, Inc. film, as well as new dining options, stores, and a “whole new theater show.”

Disney also revealed that although the Muppets Courtyard will be no more, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and their friends will be “moving right along to Sunset Boulevard” where they will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.”

Now, right up front, let’s say that we do not have exact timelines from Disney when it comes to the construction schedule, however, these announcements coupled with the fact that Disney is trying to have all of their new projects completed between now and 2027, there is a HIGH possibility that we will be seeing two whole areas closed in Hollywood Studios at exactly the same time.

So, the bottom line is that when theses two areas are closed (at the same time), that means that guests are going to flood into the remaining attractions, which in turn is going to make those lines (and tempers) even longer!
When the Dust Settles…Things Might Get Even Crazier
Here’s the kicker: once these construction projects are complete, Hollywood Studios could become the ultimate Disney parks hotspot. Why? Because not only will the Monsters, Inc. Land be opening up for the first time with undoubtedly incredible theming, merch, and dining options, they’ll also have that first-for-Disney suspended roller coaster.

With three HUGE lands all competing for attention, Hollywood Studios might go from “bustling” to “borderline chaotic.” Can you imagine families hopping between Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, and the new Monsters, Inc. coaster? It’s going to be a lot.

And let’s not forget the dining, merch, and character meet-and-greets that will come with this new land. The demand for Lightning Lanes is going to go straight through the roof.
What Does This Mean for YOU?
If you’re planning a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the near future, strategy is going to be EVERYTHING. Here are a few quick tips:
-
- Stay Updated: Keep it right here at AllEars so you can keep an eye on construction timelines and official Disney announcements. Knowing which attractions are closed (and when!) will help you plan smarter.
- Embrace Early Access: If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, make the most of Early Entry. Being in the park early could help you hit those key attractions before crowds really build up.
- Think About Park Hopping: If Hollywood Studios feels too packed, consider hopping to another park midday and coming back later. It might help you avoid the worst of the crowds.
- Patience is going to be KEY: With closures AND new openings on the horizon, expect some bumps along the way. Remember, patience (and maybe a Mickey pretzel) goes a long way!
So, yes. At the end of the day, the closures will be inconvenient, and yes, the crowds might feel overwhelming at times, but in the end, it’s all part of Disney’s commitment to making the parks more immersive, magical, and, well…epic. Here’s to hoping that it’ll all payoff in the end.

In the meantime, keep it right here at AllEars all the latest from Disney.
