Choosing when to leave Magic Kingdom can be kinda tricky. Is the solution to leave late or bounce a little early? This is the kind of decision that causes sleepless nights, people!

We’ve got to be honest. We can’t stay out as late as we used to — ESPECIALLY after a busy day in Disney World. Around 9 PM, we start getting pretty sleepy, and we KNOW we aren’t the only ones. But if you’re planning on heading out around then, you’re going to run into a MAJOR problem.
The Magic Kingdom fireworks show, called Happily Ever After, is one of the most popular things to see in Disney World. And, like clockwork, after every show, a HUGE stream of people makes its way to the park exit… all at the same time. As you can expect, it gets chaotic, crowded, and downright unpleasant.

Then there’s the issue of Disney Starlight — the new nighttime parade that has showtimes at 9 PM and 11 PM daily. This parade is massively popular and definitely brings in the crowds, making it difficult to exit along Main Street.

So, what do you do if you want to be OUT of the park by 9 PM without getting stuck in a mob of people? Well, you have some options. First, you can watch the shows from the veeeery front of Main Street, U.S.A. — we’re talking right by the Main Street Train Station! That way, as soon as the show is over, you’ll be among the first out.

If you REALLY want to hide from the crowds, you can also try to watch the fireworks from a nearby Disney hotel! In the past, we’ve had some good luck watching the fireworks from Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Of course, you could also avoid the crowds by just WAITING about 45 minutes after the fireworks and shows! Either way, plan your exit with the potential crowding in mind. And also be warned that there will be massive lines and crowds for buses, boats, and the monorail as well. So that is something to plan around as well. If you want to avoid this altogether and are looking to be in bed before park close, leaving before the shows is going to be your best bet.
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
