Universal Studios Japan will be closing its Sesame Street Fun World to make way for new adventures.

On Sunday, May 10th, 2026, Sesame Street Fun World will be permanently closing. To make up for the closing, Universal Studios Japan will be hosting a special celebration: Forever Friends — Always Together.

Sesame Street Fun World opened on March 16th, 2012, and is part of the Universal Wonderland area, which is their family-friendly land. From March 20th to May 10th, you can celebrate the closure (or cry for the closure — your choice).

You can continue to see Sesame Street friends throughout the park, including in the NO LIMIT! Parade along as in the The Ultimate Blues Bash — Colors of Music and various character greetings.

For the Forever Friends — Always Together celebration, guests will receive a special card that allows them to take unique photos blending Sesame Street characters with real park scenery when held up in designated locations. The artwork will change throughout the event, too. The first print will be available from March 20th until supplies last, and the second will be from April 15th to May 10th, but dates are subject to change. You can grab them at Universal Wonderland.

There will also be a special Everyone’s Treasure Board where you can share your special memories and have them displayed. It will be in front of Elmo’s Imagiantion Playland and Sesame’s Big Drive from April 11th to May 10th.
