3 Animal Kingdom Restaurants We Avoid at ALL COSTS

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is arguably the most unique Disney theme park in the world, thanks to its mixture of groundbreaking live animals, E-Ticket attractions, intricate theming, and some unique foods! However, not every Animal Kingdom restaurant is created equal.

It’s an elephant!

For every unique, can’t-miss experience, there are some that we tend to skip as often as possible. That doesn’t mean these restaurants are bad — in fact, most are far from it — just that the food options are somewhat basic, and can be found (in one case literally) in other places on property.

Harambe Market

There was a time when the Harambe Market was one of the most unique quick service establishments in any Disney World park. However, following a late 2025 refurbishment, the eatery returned with a very different menu, likely due to the closure of Restaurantosaurus.

Chicken Strips

Gone were the rice bowls and pitas, replaced by “classic staples” like cheeseburgers and chicken strips. Now, there’s nothing wrong with cheeseburgers and chicken strips — and they’re certainly welcome for kids and picky eaters — but they’re also common options around Walt Disney World that can generally be skipped at Animal Kingdom.

Pizzafari

Is Pizzafari the worst? Nah. But it’s also mainly serving microwaved puffy pizzas that taste right out of a cafeteria.

Now, some diners — again, mainly picky eaters or major pizza fans — may be drawn to the basic menu, but otherwise there’s nothing here that guests can’t get (arguably better) somewhere else.

Rainforest Cafe

Located at the front of the park, this outpost of the once-popular chain restaurant offers the same menu and thematic experiences as its other remaining outposts.

Rainforest Cafe

This includes the Rainforest Cafe, still in operation at Disney Springs. Which means yes, you can get the EXACT same meal surrounded by pretty much the EXACT same theming elsewhere on property. Hence, it’s likely worth skipping at Animal Kingdom.

Again, none of these eateries are inherently bad — and definitely are solid options for picky eaters, especially kids — but for most guests, they pale in comparison to other restaurants the park has to offer, like Satu’li Canteen, Flame Tree Barbecue, Nomad Lounge, and Tiffins.

  1. I miss the old Harbe Markwr, especially the one that existed like 10 years ago. Each station had unique offerings and you had so much to choose from and it was all really good. Now I just sit at their tables to get out of the sun, no food.
