Our AllEars team is in Disney World every day, and we have the hard task of trying snacks, drinks, and more from all over to tell you what is worth your time and money.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of the most immersive parks at Disney World, and it happens to be one of our favorite parks to grab a bite to eat. But when it comes to snacks…not every option is a winner. Our team has learned there are a few items we skip every single time, especially when far better alternatives are just steps away. Here are six Animal Kingdom snacks we avoid at all costs, and what we order instead.
1. Basic Churros
We love a good Disney churro, but I think most of us would agree that the standard park churros across all of the parks are often dry, bland, and wildly inconsistent. For a park with such strong theming and flavors, these just don’t deliver. Instead, we head straight to Nomad Lounge, where the churros are elevated with unique flavors, warm dipping sauces, and a sit-down atmosphere that makes the snack unforgettable.

2. Mickey Cinnamon Roll
The Mickey Cinnamon Roll looks cute, but in practice, it’s usually oversized and way too dry. A much better pastry option is the Pistachio Croissant, over at Tamu Tamu. This pastry offers flakier layers, richer flavor, and a more balanced sweetness that doesn’t leave you feeling weighed down after just a few bites. While the edges were a little dry, we were able to easily pullit apart and bite through it easily. It was light and fluffy on the inside and a really great croissant.

3. Rice Bowls at Kusafiri
We just had some menu shake-ups at Animal Kingdom, and the rice bowls that used to be at Harambe Market are now at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. These rice bowls may seem convenient, but they tend to be underwhelming with bland seasoning, basic ingredients, and not nearly enough flavor payoff for the price. If you want a satisfying bowl at Animal Kingdom, Satu’li Canteen is the clear winner. Their customizable bowls are fresher, more filling, and packed with bold flavors that actually feel worthy of a meal.

4. Ribs from Flame Tree Barbecue
Flame Tree Barbecue has large portions and is great for families, but the ribs themselves are often dry and inconsistent, sometimes lacking the tender texture you’d expect. For ribs that are flavorful and tender, head to Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes and order the Korean Barbecue Rib Tips. They’re flavorful, saucy, and much more reliably tender, making them a huge upgrade.

5. Pineapple Lumpia
This one is controversial because some people on the team love the Pineapple Lumpia at Pongu Pongu. But for many of us, it’s too greasy, and we can’t get past the texture of warm cream cheese. If you’re craving something sweet and refreshing instead, Night Blossom, also at Pongu Pongu, is the way to go. It’s fruity, vibrant, and refreshing, especially on a hot day.

6. Yeti Sundae
The Yeti Sundae at Anandapur Ice Cream Truck might look fun, but it’s notoriously messy and loaded with bright blue food dye that stains everything, including your hands, clothes, and tongue. Plus, it melts fast in the Florida heat. A much cleaner and delicious option is the Simba Sunset from Tamu Tamu. It’s still sweet and colorful, but far more refreshing and way less chaotic.

Not all snacks are created equal, and with Disney World already being pricey, we don’t want you wasting money on a snack that will end up in the trash. For more Disney tips and tricks for your next Disney World vacation, be sure to follow AllEars.net.
