Genie+, Disney’s pay-to-skip-the-line service, is still controversial among many guests.

We’ve done multiple experiments with it in all the different Disney World parks, and while it’s a handy tool to help you skip the lines, it can get expensive. Plus, there are some times that you really just don’t need to use the service, and knowing which attractions typically have a short wait may help you decide if you really need it for your park day. Here are the eight attractions you REALLY don’t need Genie+ to ride.
Magic Kingdom
There are three rides in Magic Kingdom that really don’t need special Genie+ Lightning Lane access. The first is Mad Tea Party over in Fantasyland. This ride very rarely has over a 15-minute wait at any given point of the day, as it’s not the most popular ride in the park. It’s great for kiddos who love to spin, though!

Next is Mickey’s PhilharMagic, also located in Fantasyland. This is a show, not really a ride, and it’s appropriate for all ages. The show itself is about 12 minutes long, so seeing a 10-15 minute wait for this attraction really means you’re just waiting for the next show to start. The theater seats a lot of people, so there’s no need to rush over to the attraction.

Lastly, over in Adventureland, we have Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This ride is very similar to Dumbo, as it’s a spinning ride that rises above the ground. Since Dumbo is an original Disney attraction, Magic Carpets isn’t nearly as popular. You likely won’t wait longer than 15 minutes for this attraction — unless it’s an especially busy day.

EPCOT
There’s only one attraction over in EPCOT we don’t think you need a Genie+ reservation for, and that’s The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

This ride is located right near SeaBase, which is the aquarium that you can visit on its own, or the Seas with Nemo and Friends will drop you off inside when you get off the ride. Many people walk right by this attraction or choose to skip it since it’s a simple kids’ ride. However, we say that if it’s got a low wait (like it usually does) and you have some extra time, hop on — it’s cute! Just don’t waste a Genie+ Lightning Lane on this ride; it’s probably not worth it.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios is known for having lots of thrill rides, but there are a few shows that you really don’t need Genie+ reservations to see. First things first, we adore Muppet Vision 3D, but you don’t need to snag a Genie+ reservation for it. The show itself is about a 17-minute experience overall, so you normally won’t see this wait time above 20 minutes or so.

We also don’t recommend getting a Genie+ reservation for Beauty and the Beast Live On Stage because that outdoor theatre is HUGE, and there are so many seats available. If you show up about 10 minutes before showtime, you should have no problem finding a seat.

Lastly, we also don’t feel you need a reservation for the Frozen Sing-Along. As popular as it is, that indoor theatre can hold A LOT of people, and once again, as long as you show up ahead of showtime, you should have no issues finding a seat.

Everything else in Hollywood Studios, though? Yeah, those Genie+ reservations may be a good idea!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Like EPCOT, there’s only one attraction we don’t recommend a Genie+ reservation for in Animal Kingdom, and that’s It’s Tough To Be A Bug. Sensing a theme here?

This is another show that is around 9 minutes long, and you usually won’t see it listed as more than a 10 or 15-minute wait. We do want to warn you, though, if you or your kiddos aren’t fans of bugs or giant bug animatronics, this may be one you want to skip entirely.

We understand that Genie+ can get very expensive for whole families, and it’s totally possible to do everything you want in the parks during your vacation if you know how to plan and are prepared to spend long days in the parks. Genie+ can help you move through those lines faster and potentially keep morale up (waiting in line after line can really hurt the group’s spirits), but it’s up to you which is more important for your group — saving money or saving time.
