One of the best parts of a Disney World vacation is all of the food.

Disney has all sorts of different food options from tried-and-true favorites to limited-time offerings. And then there are events like the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival that are quite literally ALL about the food. If you’re heading to Disney World soon, a recent recall may affect your food options in the Disney World parks.
On Friday, the J.M. Smucker Co. announced a voluntary recall of of some of their Jif peanut butter products after a salmonella outbreak was linked back to contaminated peanut butter, according to the Orlando Sentinel. If you have a Jif Peanut Butter jar with lot codes from 1274425 through 2140425, you should dispose of that peanut butter immediately.

Fourteen people across 12 states have been diagnosed with salmonella linked to the peanut butter and two of them have been hospitalized. While Florida is not one of the 12 states where salmonella contamination has been reported, we noticed some desserts in Disney World with peanut butter as an ingredient have been removed from the menu.

At the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom, we noticed the peanut butter sauce was missing from the menu. A Cast Member informed us that the sauce has been voluntarily pulled due to the recall.

We also stopped by the The Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom today, where we noticed that the Mr. Toad Dome Cake (which is peanut cake with chocolate-peanut butter mousse and a salted caramel center) had been taken off the menu. This and other peanut butter desserts are temporarily unavailable as a precaution due to the Jif recall.

The Mr. Toad Dome Cake was introduced as part of Disney World 50th Anniversary and is themed after the former Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in the Magic Kingdom. Disney has not provided any information on when we might see these peanut butter treats return, but we’ll be on the lookout.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the peanut butter situation in Disney World, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest updates!
