When it comes to themed restaurants, Disney World has got it going on!

If you’re looking for the most detailed places to eat a meal, then check out spots like Be Our Guest Restaurant or Skipper Canteen…but what about if you want a cool place to have a drink? Today, we’re discussing two of Disney World’s best-themed bars to figure out which is better — Oga’s Cantina or Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto!
Oga’s Cantina
Let’s kick things off over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here, you’ll find Oga’s Cantina — the local watering hole of the planet Batuu. It’s made to look very similar to the cantinas you’ve seen in Star Wars movies and TV shows!

To visit this popular spot, you’re going to need to snag a dining reservation through your My Disney Experience account. And we’ll warn you — they’re not easy to get. You’ll probably need to be looking for it exactly when the dining reservation window opens for your trip!

But, once you go inside, you’ll be greeted by a menu of interesting beverages, including some that will even make your mouth go numb (it’s fun, we promise!). The drinks here can be a little on the pricey side (and the food options are lacking), but they’ll look great on your Instagram page and you’ll feel like a galactic hero while drinking them!

The bartenders here are “local” folk, which fits right along with the whole theme. You’ll find some really cool decor, including DJ R3X who used to work at Star Tours, but now spends his time spinning the galaxy’s hottest beats!

It’s important to note that you’ll need a theme park ticket to visit Oga’s Cantina since it’s located inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto
If you’re looking for Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, you’ll need to head to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Look out for the inconspicuous entrance located down the hall from Capt. Cook’s and head inside for a tropical party!

At Trader Sam’s the decor is tropical-themed with dozens of fun references to Disney history and the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. There’s basically a hodgepodge of different items all over the walls and on the many shelves — you could spend hours checking everything out in here!

And not only is the decor fun, but the bartenders are also! When you order certain drinks from the menu, weird antics may happen all around the bar. Many times, the bartenders are in on the excitement and they make your visit much more immersive!

You won’t need reservations to get inside Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, but we should note that you may need to put your name in a virtual queue during busier times. Children are welcome to visit, but only before 8PM.
So Which One is Better?
As interesting and unique as these two bars are, here on the AllEars team we had a pretty clear winner…Trader Sam’s!

Why Trader Sam’s? Well, while Oga’s has a fun environment, Trader Sam’s has some great advantages. The drinks at Oga’s are pre-mixed, but the Trader Sam’s beverages are handmade by the bartenders.

Trader Sam’s also has better food options, from sushi rolls to tacos to flatbread. And if you don’t want to take the time to head inside, you can order drinks at the walk-up window outside. And you don’t need to buy a park ticket to stop here!

But no worries, no matter which bar you visit, you’re sure to have a great time! We still highly recommend stopping by both of them during your vacation. They may just be the highlight of your trip!
