3 Disney World Restaurants Are Still CLOSED…With No Reopening Date in Sight

Disney World is constantly changing. Restaurants close, rides go down for refurbishment, and new concepts replace old favorites all the time.

But while many closures come with reopening timelines or replacement announcements, others quietly fade away, with no official word from Disney. These locations sit in limbo, confusing guests and leaving us wondering if they’ll ever return. Here are three Disney World restaurants that remain closed, with no reopening date in sight.

Tomorrowland Terrace

Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant located in Magic Kingdom, but even before the pandemic, it was never a reliably open dining option. Historically, this location operated only seasonally during high-capacity times like spring break or other peak travel periods, making it one of the more elusive places actually to grab a meal.

What makes Tomorrowland Terrace especially puzzling is how much potential it has. There is a massive amount of seating here, and part of the dining area offers a beautiful, direct view of Cinderella Castle. During the daytime, it’s often so quiet that our team has been known to bring their laptops here to work from inside the parks.

While the location isn’t open for regular daytime dining, it’s far from abandoned. Tomorrowland Terrace is used nightly for Happily Ever After fireworks dessert parties and also serves as a venue during special events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Because of the extensive setup and cleanup required for these events, it would likely be difficult for Disney to operate this space for lunch or dinner and still have it fully prepped in time for nighttime dessert parties, which may explain why it remains closed as a standard quick-service option.

Restaurant Marrakesh

Restaurant Marrakesh is located inside EPCOT’s Morocco Pavilion in World Showcase, an area that has seen significant changes in recent years. The pavilion was once sponsored and operated by the Moroccan government, but Disney now owns and manages the space. Restaurant Marrakesh has not reopened as a dining location since EPCOT closed in 2020, and there’s been no indication that it will return anytime soon.

However, the space itself hasn’t gone completely unused. Over the years, Disney has repurposed the restaurant as Morocco’s Kidcot Fun Stop, an Annual Passholder Lounge, and even the Florida Blue Medicare Lounge during the 2025 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. Despite this occasional use, Restaurant Marrakesh remains closed as an actual restaurant, leaving EPCOT with one less table-service option in World Showcase.

Big River Grille and Brewing Works

Big River Grille and Brewing Works was located along Disney’s BoardWalk, and when Disney announced its sudden closure in January 2024, fans were stunned. The announcement came with little warning, and the restaurant closed so quickly that many assumed Disney already had a replacement lined up. Fast forward more than two years, and there’s still been no word on what, if anything, will take its place.

The building remains closed, and Disney has yet to share any plans for the space. Adding to the BoardWalk shakeup, Jellyrolls also permanently closed in April 2025, leaving guests wondering what Disney’s plan is for this popular area full of stores and restaurants.

One Long-Term Closure That is Reopening

The Garden View Tea Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa was one of those restaurants that sat empty since 2020, and we were left wondering if it would ever reopen, until Disney recently revealed that the tea room would reopen soon. The tea room reopens on March 19th! This goes to show that there is always hope that Disney will reopen these spaces and give them some new life eventually!
