A DEEP DIVE Into the NEW Plans for Disney’s Cars and Villains Land Expansions

There are TWO entirely new lands coming to Magic Kingdom in the near future — Piston Peak (formerly Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat), and the new Villains Land (being built behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad), and we’re stoked for both of them!

Recently, Disney released some documents that show us the prospective layout of Piston Peak and Villains Land, and it gives us an idea of what buildings might be in each spot. Let’s dive in and talk about what we might see!

Taking a look at the first layout shows us that about seven buildings are in the plans for these two areas. The buildings are all connected via utility lines that are marked as either “12”S” or”6″S” with a note that the lines will connect to “(WDW 12″S)(MH#18) DIVERSION”. If that all sounds confusing, we get it, which is why we’re here to break it down!

Starting with Piston Peak, we’ll guess that the bottom section of buildings at the bottom right of the plans will be the rally race-type attraction for Piston Peak (it’s more in a circle, to us, that makes some semblance of sense because people can watch the cars go by as they wait in line). There will likely be a gift shop at the end of this attraction for people to shop in.

Rally race ride?

Then, we’re thinking the other big facility building is likely the big mountain in the concept art, and will also likely be part of the family attraction planned for the land as well. Again, we’re assuming there may be a gift shop at the end.

Perhaps the mountain and other attractions!

Finally, we have a smaller facility in this section. We’re wondering if this would either be the mountain on its own, OR perhaps another shop spot that has a bathroom inside as well. It could potentially be a snack spot too, but we’re less confident about that.

Either the mountain OR a shop/bathroom stop

Then, when it comes to Villains Land, we haven’t been given much information at all to go off of, so we’ve only got concept art to take into account. However, concept art can change dramatically, so we’re trying not to get too attached. Regardless, we’ve got a feeling that these two large buildings are each going to be attractions/rides, both very likely with shops at the exits.

We think these are both large attractions!

As for the facility on its own, this could be several things, but we’re not thinking it’s another ride. We’re hoping it could be a building for meet and greets or a live show, but it’s also possible it’s a large shopping location or restaurant.

What could this be?

Ultimately, only time will tell what each of these buildings is intended for, but one thing is for sure — Disney is ramping up progress on these two expansions, and we couldn’t be more excited!
