When you picture a Disney World vacation, you might be imagining the hot sun, wearing summer clothes, and enjoying a sweet frozen treat. While it might not be the winters others are used to in the Midwest or North, Florida can get pretty cold, and if you’re not ready for it, you might be left scrambling for the final Mickey Mouse sweatshirt.

If you’re the type of person who appreciates cooler Florida weather, especially when it comes to walking around Disney all day, then you’re going to be happy to hear that Florida’s next cold front is on the way! If you have plans for the big festival starting this weekend, prepare to bundle up.
EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts is starting this January 16th, and it looks like the beginning of the festival is going to be a cold one. According to News 6, “The cold front headed to Florida is currently positioned over the Gulf Coast states, extending northeastward towards the Appalachians. Along the leading edge, there’s a low-end severe weather risk given all the moisture and warmer air out in front of it as it races southward.”

We are expected to see fog, wind, and cooler temperatures this weekend. Although there will be a temperature drop, you don’t need to expect it to be freezing. Once the cooler weather comes in, it’s going to stay here for a bit — so make sure you’re checking the forecast ahead of your Disney days this month.

You may want to bring a jacket with you, as well as gloves and a hat. For guests visiting Florida from the north, they may be fine with a sweater or hoodie (we know you’ve seen way colder). Those who are from the Sunshine State or other warm places may want to bring thicker layers. While there are plenty of stores to buy clothing items in Disney World, most people won’t be prepared for the cold (unlike you, who’s reading this article right now!), and sweatshirts and jackets are known to sell out in the parks. It might be easier to bring your own, so you don’t have to worry about finding one later.

We can’t wait for the festival to begin this weekend. We’re going to see the return of popular booths, and we already got a look at the full menus of all the food and drinks coming to the festival.

The festival is a beautiful and colorful celebration, with exclusive merch, experiences, and food and drinks. It’s a popular festival, and for good reason! We’ll be there on opening day, sharing all the details with you, like what meals you can’t miss and which entertainment you need front row seats for.
