NEWS: Disney Files a NEW Permit for This Hollywood Studios Attraction

Could more changes be coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith? While Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith will still be open through March 1st, 2026 (the ride will close on March 2nd), changes have already started, and this new permit might be a sign that even more changes are coming soon.

The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in a retheme of this popular attraction. The current iteration starring Aerosmith will be closing in March, and the retheme with The Muppets is expected to open in summer 2026.

Even though Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith is still jamming out in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, big changes can already be seen in the attraction. For one, the iconic pre-show featuring Aerosmith is already gone for good. The pre-show was removed at the beginning of December 2025, so guests now walk through Studio C without experiencing it.

Additionally, in the middle of December 2025, a different permit was filed to “install set elements” by Mecca Productions Inc. Now, we just spotted another permit filed by Disney for construction at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Disney filed a Notice of Commencement to “install set elements” at the address for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The contractor listed is Jon Richards Company FL, Inc.

The Jon Richards Company FL, Inc. designs graphics, scenery, and props. The company also specializes in themed lighting. This is the same company that designed the stage for the Royal Theatre in Disneyland, signage for Pinocchio Village Haus in Disney World, and more.

We have seen quite a bit of the Jon Richards Company at Disney World lately. Jon Richards Company has also worked with Disney to install set elements for Test Track, signage for Zootopia: Better Zoogether, and new signs at the updated Country Bear Jamboree. Plus, the company is also currently working with Disney on general construction in the old Muppets Theater.

Now, “install set elements” is pretty vague and doesn’t specify exactly what to expect. But Disney seems to be getting as much of a head start on the transformation as possible, so who knows what might be coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and what might be changing soon. Of course, we will be keeping an eye out for any changes!
