Why We’re Already Worried About Disney’s NEW ‘Encanto’ Ride

One of Disney World’s newest rides has some pretty big shoes to fill.

In case you didn’t know, A LOT is happening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom over the coming years. DinoLand U.S.A. is being replaced by Pueblo Esperanzaa new Tropical Americas-themed land — and, with it, are coming some new attractions. While we’re very excited to experience these changes, we’re not without our own worries.

The new land will be getting a few attractions, but the two E-ticket rides will be an Indiana Jones adventure attraction and an Encanto ride. The Indiana Jones ride will be similar in function to the DINOSAUR ride it’s replacing, as well as the Indiana Jones Adventure ride out in Disneyland.

While we certainly have our concerns regarding this new attraction, our attention has turned towards the Encanto ride for one very specific reason: It’s the first-ever ride based on Encanto

The new Indiana Jones ride will have an original story, but we sort of already know what the ride will be like based on its predecessors. With the new Encanto ride, however, a lot is riding on this new attraction being spectacular.

For starters, if the first Indiana Jones ride wasn’t amazing, we probably wouldn’t get the new ride coming to Animal Kingdom. If the new Encanto ride is a letdown, that hurts the opportunity for more Encanto-themed attractions at the Disney Parks in the future.

This ride will be a bit of a gamble since it’s the first of its kind! That could mean technology glitches like we see with Rise of the Resistance and other newer attractions. It could also mean that updates will need to be added later, like the changes coming to Frozen Ever After.

Construction is already underway for the Encanto ride, which will feature the Family Madrigal and a story centered around the day Antonio receives his special gift of communicating with animals, as his room completely transforms into a rainforest.

The ride is slated to open in 2027.

Disney fans take every theme park change very seriously and hold Disney to high standards. Still, we’re trusting Disney Imagineers to deliver another hit Animal Kingdom attraction, and we’re willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until there’s reason not to!
