What is Going ON With Test Track in Disney World?

We watch Disney World wait times every single day, so it’s not often we see something that shocks or surprises us.

Test Track!

However, all that has now changed when we just looked at the ride closures in Disney World throughout the month of September. One of the resort’s most recently refurbished rides is Test Track in EPCOT, which underwent a complete makeover for just over a year, and opened this past summer. However, it’s looking like things are NOT going as smoothly as Disney expected, because the amount of time this attraction closed in one month was over DOUBLE the amount of days there are in the month alone.

Magic Kingdom

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel down 36 times in 28 days, but this high closure rate is mostly due to the fact that it closes each night during fireworks for safety, so that means this ride really only had 8 unexpected closures out of the 28 days.

We’re not totally surprised to see that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train down 34 times in 19 days, as it is an outdoor attraction that is affected by storms. Since we’re in hurricane season, rain and thunderstorms have been affecting outdoor rides at least once on most days.

The ride we’re really worried about in this park though is The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, since it closed down 30 times in 18 days in September. This is an indoor attraction not affected by weather, and yes, it’s an older attraction, but there aren’t many technological elements that often go down in here. We wouldn’t be surprised to see this ride undergo a refurbishment soon to fix things up.

EPCOT

Yeah, Test Track was down 64 times in 25 days, which is WILD. That means it averaged over two closures each day, and for a ride that just got out of a refurbishment a few months ago, that’s not ideal.

Test Track

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure closed down 34 times in 24 days, which isn’t as shocking since this is a trackless dark ride, and those have a lot of technological elements that act up from time to time. One small thing gets knocked out of place, and it can throw off the sensors for the whole ride.

Mission: SPACE was down 32 times in 19 days, which isn’t great for this attraction, but it is on the older side, and those simulations (especially orange) are no joke. Honestly, we wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these closures were due to clean up — there are barf bags in this attraction for a REASON.

We’re not shocked to see that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed down 37 times in 19 days, because, well, this coaster has been having issues for years now. Our fingers are crossed that the Muppets overlay coming next year will give this ride the TLC it needs (and that apparently its earlier two refurbishments couldn’t give it), because otherwise, we’re just concerned.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Next on the list is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which closed down 31 times in 19 days. Again, this is another trackless dark ride with a LOT of moving parts, more than Remy’s, so this is honestly not a bad number for this attraction.

Rise of the Resistance

Toy Story Mania! was down 24 times in 14 days, which is curious! This is a shooting style attraction that doesn’t often have issues, but we think this was due to a larger amount of people coming through this ride on hotter days. We saw some pretty high wait times for this that we weren’t expecting this month!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

DINOSAUR went down 19 times in 15 days, but for an older attraction that’s on its way out (RIP), this isn’t bad at all! Now, since there are so few attractions in this park right now, any closure does through a wrench in things, but these closures were usually short lived.

Dinosaur

Expedition Everest was right behind it, going down 19 times in 17 days, but since this ride is outdoors, a lot of these were due to weather issues that can’t be helped.

Expedition Everest

Right behind it was Kali River Rapids, going down 12 times in 11 days, but again, weather was majority of the reason behind this. If you ever see both Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids down at the same time in the park, it’s either raining, is about to rain, or just finished and there’s still lightning in the area.
