REVIEW: The Menu at This Disney World Restaurant Has CHANGED, and All Is Right With the Universe

Hope you’re not hungry, because what we’re about to talk about is going to leave you craving fresh, cheesy pasta. Sorry in advance. Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, there are so many fantastic food options to try — so many that we often have trouble trying to decide what to get!

Time to eat!

Now, imagine our surprise when we walked by Eight Spoon Cafe and saw that the menu had changed (again)! Not only that — right across the way, the Smiling Crocodile was closed with no menu in sight. That means one of our favorite dishes has switched locations once again, but does it still taste as good?

A little while ago, the Baked Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork was totally removed from the menu at Eight Spoon Cafe, and instead, a Baked Mac and Cheese without pulled pork moved over to Smiling Crocodile. However, now the dish is BACK at Eight Spoon Cafe WITH pulled pork (phew; what a journey), and it’s time to see if it’s as good as we remember!

Baked Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork

This will cost you $12.99, but it IS possible to get the Baked Mac and Cheese without any toppings for $7.99 before tax. We’re happy to report that this dish is just as great as we remember! It’s got moist pork that isn’t drowning in barbecue sauce, which we appreciated.

Delicious!

However, we will say that some of the really baked parts of the mac and cheese were at the bottom of the dish, so we recommend either mixing it all up before you really dive in, or poking around all the way to the bottom of the dish to ensure you get a bite of every ingredient in every forkful.

We’re big fans!

We also really love this portion size for the price, and while we did eat it on a hot day, it wasn’t overwhelmingly warm that we felt overheated as long as we sat in the shade. Now, we will say that there’s not much seating here, which is a bit of a bummer, so you may want to walk a little further to find some seating elsewhere if you don’t want to take it on the go.

All in all, we’re happy to report that our old favorite snack is back as it should be — cheese fans REJOICE!

  1. $12.99? Wasn’t it under $7 before the initial move? What an insane price hike. Is it closer to the Flame Tree full meal portion than the previous smaller snack size?
