I’m going to say it — Disneyland just does the holidays better. From the elegant decorations to the exclusive snacks that are available all day long instead of just for exclusive after-hours party goers, there’s something that makes Christmas at Disneyland so much more magical.

We tried a bunch of holiday-exclusive snacks to see what’s worth the price! Come along with us and get ready to want to buy a ticket to Disneyland immediately.
Red Rose Taverne

We started with the Holiday Butter Cake Sundae for $8.29, which is a warm chocolate butter cake, peppermint ice cream, chocolate sauce, and crushed peppermint.

This is a perfect holiday dessert! The butter cake is served warm and has an incredibly rich and decadent chocolate flavor. The dessert is fairly minty but didn’t overwhelm us, and we think the chocolate sauce that covered the ice cream helped soften the flavor. The ice cream had hints of sweet, creamy vanilla flavor between the mild peppermint. A win for us!

Then we had Gingerbread Cookies for $7.79 with a side of the Holiday Royal Icing Dipping Sauce for $1.39. Yes, you sure did read that correctly — a dipping sauce cup of frosting!

Right off the bat, we really loved the texture! They weren’t too soft or heavy on the spice, ginger, and cinnamon, but had a perfect balance throughout. The cookies had a nice crisp on the outside and a soft inside, with a mild, sweet cinnamon and ginger flavor in each bite. While the frosting wasn’t anything spectacular, we loved the sweet vanilla flavor and a runny texture, and dipping the cookies in made it so much more fun. You get six cookies in the pack, too!

We also had the White Mocha-Peppermint Tree-shaped Macaron filled with peppermint buttercream and a coffee bundt cake center for $8.29.

This is where we start to question our love of peppermint. This was hard to eat since it broke apart too easily, and the peppermint in the buttercream was so strong that it reminded us more of toothpaste (the dread!). We were looking forward to some sweet, creamy vanilla flavors we normally taste in buttercream, but the texture and taste were not for us. The top piece of the maracron, which didn’t have any buttercream, was pretty good, with a light, sweet chocolate flavor and only a slight minty aftertaste. The coffee cake center also had hints of caramel and hazelnut that we enjoyed, but we wish that dang buttercream wasn’t there.

Diving in, we tried the Mint Chip Funnel Cake Fries, which are spiced hot cocoa sugar-dusted funnel cake fries, mint chip ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate chips for $10.29.

Yum! These funnel cake fires are delicious! The mint chip ice cream on top of the hot funnel cake fries combines beautifully with the chocolate syrup and crunchy chocolate chips. It’s a great dish to share at the table and makes us feel the perfect winter vibes without the snow.

Cozy Cone Motel 3

Over in Disney California Adventure, we tried Jerry’s Junk Truck Cone, which has chopped fried chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, corn, chicken gravy, and cheese topped with green onion for $13.49.

The cone was giving off full comfort food vibes, and we were here for it! It had a nice mix of pepper, garlic, and cheesy flavors. The potatoes had a hint of garlic and had a great texture that wasn’t too dense or too fluffy. The corn added a bit of sweetness, and the fried chicken had a peppery seasoning on that of that gorgeous, crispy golden brown skin (my mouth is watering thinking about it!). We also wish there had been more chicken because we only got about three or four pieces, and it was so good. Perfect for a gloomy day when you need a little pep in your step.

Schmoozies

We’re ready for more! We tried the Red Velvet Mickey-shaped Waffles for $10.99, which were filled with cream cheese and topped with a whipped topping.

Waffle time! These had a light chocolate taste throughout from the red velvet, but they weren’t overly rich or strong. We wish they were served warm, and they were a bit tougher than we prefer, but they had a nice crisp on the outside and a soft, fluffy inside. The cream cheese added a light flavor that paired well with the red velvet and the sweeter waffle batter. They’re also pretty cute, too.
Award Wieners

For another treat, we tried the …Don’t Forget the Milk & Cookies, which are battered and fried creme-filled cookies with whipped topping, chocolate drizzle, and crushed peppermint candy for $10.99.

We weren’t thrilled about paying almost $11 for two deep-fried Oreos, but we did love how the batter mixed with the Oreos made it a very rich, almost savory dessert. The peppermint added a slight minty flavor that we thought felt out of place with the sweet and savory flavors from the batter and chocolate syrup. The whipped cream had a lighter flavor and helped tone down the richness and sweetness of the deep-fried Oreos.
