If you’re planning a Disney World trip this summer, get your calendars out, because EPCOT’s most iconic attraction is closing soon.
A ton of Disney attractions have been experiencing closures this year (both temporary and permanent), and now we’ll be adding this one to the list. Let’s take a look at all the details!
Disney just announced a new closure coming to Disney World. Destination? EPCOT. It looks like we’ll have to put a pause on thanking the Phoenicians soon, because the iconic Spaceship Earth is scheduled to close!
The ride will close on August 25th. Don’t worry, Disney fans, this is a temporary closure — you can breathe now. As of right now, there is no confirmed reopening date for the attraction. That said, Disney did state that it’s scheduled to reopen later this year. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long for the dark ride to open its doors again.
Also, we want to emphasize that Disney confirmed the ride is temporarily closing. For a long time, EPCOTÂ fans have talked about the previously announced (then later revoked) plans to overhaul Spaceship Earth. While the idea of a Spaceship Earth rennovation is interesting, that does not seem to be happening.
This temporary closure is simply a routine refurbishment for the attraction. Think about how often Disney attractions are run — all day, every day, all year! A routine refurbishment, especially for older rides like this, is inevitable.
Ride closures aren’t ideal, but these rides do need refurbishments every now and then. It’s what makes rides that are decades old still feel seamless — we honestly don’t know how you do it, Disney!
