An iconic Disney World attraction is getting closer to reopening!

EPCOT’s Test Track has been closed for a massive refurbishment project since June of 2024. While Disney only currently says Test Track’s “reimagining” is scheduled to be completed in in 2025, we noticed something on one of our most recent trips to EPCOT, which indicated to us that the engine is revving up.
In May 2025, we noticed Test Track ride vehicles have begun testing on the attraction’s track.

While it’s hard to get a good visual of the cars due to their speed on the outer position of the track as well as the construction apparatus still built around the show building, there’s no mistaking the loud roar that accompanies each vehicle’s spin around the track.
Earlier this year, Disney shared a look at the newly refurbished ride vehicles on their Imagineering Instagram profile. While the structure of the ride cars remains primarily unchanged, the vehicles will feature new interior seating, as well as new paint jobs, wraps, and graphics.

According to Disney at the time of the refurbishments confirmation during last summer’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event, the newest version of the Chevrolet-sponsored Test Track – – which fans have dubbed Test Track 3, since it follows the 1999 original and 2011 refurbishment versions – – will “celebrate humanity’s enduring drive (pun intended) on the thrilling road to a brighter tomorrow.”
The company continued, saying that, “New show scenes will be added showcasing technological advances and how our lifestyles and relationships to mobility connect everyone,” and that guests will, “Enjoy a joy ride through scenes focusing on onboard technology, customization and personalization. Followed by a trip through a scenic outdoor route reminding us all of the joys of driving, taking in the world around us and spending quality time with friends and family. “

There are even said to be some nods to World of Motion, the opening day EPCOT attraction that Test Track replaced in the 1990s, sprinkled throughout the new Test Track incarnation.

With ride vehicle testing ongoing at EPCOT, it seems that Test Track will be emerging from refurbishment sooner rather than later. Stay tuned to AllEars for more Walt Disney World coverage.
