I love Disney World!

I love it so much, I worked there! Until recently, I even lived in the Disney bubble and went to Disney World every single day. I know a thing or two about the parks but even I was surprised by the newest Disney announcement!
In case you missed it, there’s going to be a brand-new lounge in EPCOT! The new lounge, called GEO-82, is a Spaceship Earth-themed lounge that will surround you with iconic shapes and intricate structures inspired by the park’s instantly recognizable icon.

Disney recently announced the name of the new lounge after initially announcing it at D23 in August 2024! We’ve been eagerly awaiting the new details and thankfully, Disney provided. There was one detail though that caught me off guard! The new lounge will be for adults only!

The lounge will only be available for guests 21+ and thanks to chatter online, we know fans are torn! Many fans are excited about the adult-only space because there are very few in Disney World, but there are also fans who are pretty upset.

For me personally, I don’t have the strongest opinion when it comes to whether the lounge allows kids or not but I was surprised. At the time of writing, only Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, and Trader Sam’s after 8 PM are adult-only locations. Jellyrolls is permanently closing in April before it moves to another location, although we don’t know where yet.

There are a few spots that require children to be specific ages, for example, you must be 10 to dine at Victoria and Albert’s or 16 to go on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, but there are very limited options for true adult-only spaces in Disney. That’s why this latest announcement was so surprising!

While it might not be a welcome surprise to everyone, I think it is pretty exciting! The term “Disney Adult” exists for a reason and I see no reason why adults shouldn’t have their own spaces within the parks. If I can’t get a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, then I should be allowed one lounge without kids to make up for it. Seems more than fair to me!

I will say though, I do understand why some adults might be upset that they can’t bring their kids with them into the lounge. If you only travel to the parks with your kids, it might be frustrating to miss out on this spot, but you can also look at this as an opportunity to finally take that adult-only trip you’ve been dreaming about.

The lounge will also require advance dining reservations once it opens in late Spring 2025. The spot will serve up innovative cocktails and “globally influenced” small plates as well. I can’t wait to see how this spot evolves once it opens. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news and updates.

Disney Adult (with grown children), I love the littles in our family but I also have never been a fan of any children in lounges and bar areas. Restaurants that serve alcohol and serve to adults with their children is acceptable, of course. After a long day at Disney with kids, I’m not one to begrudge any parent that NEEDS a drink 😁 but lounges and bars (even though most serve food) should be adult only (all the time, IMHO). It’s not a place I ever took my kids or will take any of the littles in our family.
There are so many other places that are family friendly. People can get a little rowdy many times at lounges and bars and even if they don’t, it should be a place where you can enjoy adult conversations without children. I 100% agree that every parent should do at least 1 adult only trip…once they do, they’ll probably love it!
They can get babysitting services if they want to go. My kids are all adults now but I never had a problem with “adult only” places. My husband and I had to either get a babysitter or not go to many places when our kids were young. We survived.
I think that this is fantastic! I enjoy unwinding with other adults. The Magic Kingdom is basically a child’s lounge. I adore EPCOT so very much! It has always been my favorite place to be. I don’t get to go as I used to. 3 times a year for 15 days at a time. Now? I have a totally different life.
Love it! Tired of being looked down upon as a Disney adult. Finally a place where there will be no strollers and no whiny kids.
Great idea!
Since it’s in Epcot I don’t see a problem with this being adult only. MK wouldn’t be a good choice. There are tons of adults that come to Disney without kids so it should do well.
Globally influenced small plates ?
Not from LA dude..
