Disney Needs New Rules for Its Yacht and Beach Club Hotels

We’re not exaggerating when we say Yacht and Beach Club has one of our favorite pools on Disney property.

Stormalong Bay

We love the pirate ship water slide and the lazy river, but there’s one thing that’s so frustrating about them. Why do you have to be a guest at that exact resort to enjoy the pool?

We love the pool so much that we wish we could visit it all the time, even when we aren’t staying there. We wish there was an option for guests at other Deluxe Resorts, like The Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge, to go to other Deluxe Resorts’ pools.

Disney’s Yacht Club

Imagine how cool it would be to hop on the Skyliner from The Riviera Resort to Beach Club and dip in the pool!

Stormalong Bay offers good fireworks viewing!

This would be a great added perk for resort guests, giving them more chances to explore the resorts and possibly pick another one for their next stay.

Another option we would love is purchasing a day pass for the pool! We love to eat at Beaches and Cream, but it’s hard to wait outside while everyone is having so much fun in Stormalong Bay. We want to have fun, too!

We would be happy to pay an additional fee to enjoy an afternoon there.

Offering day passes might have some downsides, like overcrowding the pool. We think Disney could limit the number of day guests it offers while still allowing Yacht and Beach Club guests to get first priority. Even if only a few passes were offered daily or on certain days of the week, we would love a chance to take a dive.

The pool!

We know staying at Yacht and Beach Club Resorts has some major pool perks, but we wish there were more options to participate in the fun, too! Stay up to date with AllEars to find out more about our favorite resort amenities on Disney property.

  1. Yeah, no. If anything, allowing non guests in for a fee would definitely entice me to stay somewhere else because of the increased crowd. Pay your $600 “fee” and get a free room for the night!

  2. Dumb idea….in fact did not Disney HAVE pool hopping and STOPPED it because of crowds…….NEXT bad idea please…..LOL

  3. I don’t think this would be appreciated by the guests of Yacht and Beach. We pay a premium to stay there and it’s already soooo hard to find a chair on warm days, I can’t imagine if this was opened up to everyone. Great that people would pay for a day pass. For a $600+ “day pass” you can use the pool and get a night at Y&B “included”!

  4. Totally disagree as would be unfair to guests staying at the BC & YC who should not have to deal with crowds coming in to use the pool at the hotel they paid for and are staying at. If someone at the Riviera or elsewhere wants to enjoy Stormalong Bay then they should have booked the BC instead. Otherwise stay at your own hotel and use that pool.

  5. We stay at Beach Club or Yacht Club whenever we go to WDW which is frequently. I think the idea of other guests getting day passes is a terrible idea. If other resort guests want a water park, they can go to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Stormalong is a much smaller water park area and would become overcrowded.

  6. Due to increased crowds at the pool, I would imagine this idea would be VERY unpopular with guests staying at the Yscht and Beach Club Resorts.

  7. I completely disagree with this point of view.

Last year we stayed at the Contemporary over the 4th of July holiday. We intended to watch the fireworks from the Observation Deck. We couldn’t. The deck and all the landings were filled with people from other resorts who came over to take advantage of the view. Many of them were discussing how they read about this hack on social media.

We complained to the management that we were paying to enjoy the perks of the Contemporary and were unable to because of these people. We were told there was nothing anyone could do.

However, a Security Guard was very interested in the details and said this wasn’t allowed. He was posted at the parking lot to keep guests from other resorts from using the facilities.

In short, the pool at the Yacht and Beach clubs is for Yacht and Beach Club guests. If you want to use the pool at the Yacht or Beach Club then book your stay at the Yacht or Beach Club. No resort hopping. No day passes even if you pay for them.

Let those people who pay the premium prices enjoy the premium facilities.
