The BEST Pool in Disney World Is Closing for Longer than We Thought!

One of Walt Disney World’s best pools is going to be closed next year… for a bit longer than we thought.

Stormalong Bay is often cited as the best hotel pool in all of Disney World. The massive complex, which serves the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, truthfully is more like a miniature water park than it is a pool. Amenities include a sand-bottomed main pool, a lifesize shipwreck, a 230-foot-long waterslide, a lazy river, and three further leisure pools. Given all that, it’s no wonder Stormalong Bay is so popular with guests. Unfortunately, those visiting in the first half of 2025 won’t be able to experience it.

Several months ago, Disney announced that Stormalong Bay would be closed for a long refurbishment throughout the first half of 2025. Initially, this closure was scheduled to end in May. However, the announcement was recently updated to read that the area will be unavailable until June, meaning that Stormalong Bay will be closed for the the entire first half of the year, including the start of the busy summer season.

Disney’s notice reads as follows:

“From January 2025 through June 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, Guests are welcome to swim at the Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools.”

While the closure of Stormalong Bay during the first half of 2025 is temporary, it will likely have an effect on hotel bookings at Disney World, as many families may take the area’s closure into account when deciding where to stay in 2025. Stay tuned to AllEars for more updates on Stormalong Bay.
