After A Months-Long Closure, This Disney World Ride is About to Reopen!

Walt Disney World’s Kali River Rapids is about ready to reopen after being closed for a couple months.

The Animal Kingdom water attraction has been closed for its annual refurbishment since January 6th. (Believe it or not, it DOES get too cold to ride water rides during the winter, even if Florida).

According to the Walt Disney World calendar, Kali River Rapids will reopen for normal hours on Friday, March 14th.

The attraction’s reopening will likely affect the rest of Animal Kingdom’s wait times as the rapids-style ride is reliably one of the park’s busiest, often in the top three or four highest wait times.

Originally opened in 1999, the ride has been one of the park’s most popular for over 25 years now. It’s described by Disney as “a thrilling whitewater adventure through a lush jungle in the heart of Asia” where riders can “…skim across an erupting geyser, drift below a canopy of lush vegetation and be whisked along fast-moving rapids. Graze gushing waterfalls and bedrock amid the raging current. Then, as the harmony of nature is disrupted, you’ll plummet down a dramatic 20-foot slope!”
