Two of Disney Imagineering’s most adorable creations — the BDX Droids — recently took to the high seas!

According to a post on the DisneyParks X (formerly Twitter) account, the free-moving robots (which were originally developed for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge) were recently taken aboard the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish.
The social media clip features the two droids exploring the Star Wars area of the ship, including the Hyperspace Lounge.
The video was accompanied by a caption: “They’ve explored the galaxy and now they’re adventuring through the high seas. Our BDX droids are off on this once-in-a-lifetime journey aboard the Disney Wish #DisneyCruiseLine #StarWars”

The adorable bots first debuted during a “play test” at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge in 2023 and were featured at the park’s 2024 Season of the Force event. They have also made appearances at events like the D23 Ultimate Fan Event in the summer of 2004.

According to Disney, the droids utilize new technologies developed by Disney Research and Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development that make them “capable of great balance and highly expressive motions. They are designed to be explorer companions, and they have impossibly cute personalities.”

Disney recently released a clip of their BDX Droids exploring the Disney Wish. Stay tuned to AllEars for more coverage of their appearances.
