NEWS: LEGOLAND Florida Is Laying Off Hundreds Of Employees

Disney World and Universal Orlando aren’t the only theme parks in Central Florida.

Another popular theme park is LEGOLAND Florida, which is about a 45-minute drive from Orlando. Legoland has a theme park and a water park, as well as the world’s first Peppa Pig theme park. You’ll also find three themed hotels: Pirate Island Hotel, LEGOLand Hotel, and Beach Retreat. The park employs about 1,600 employees, but over 200 of those employees will soon be laid off, according to WFLA.

On January 24th, 234 LEGOLAND Florida employees received notices that their positions would be eliminated as of March 25th. Over 150 of the positions being removed include roles in entertainment, with 23 being entertainment technicians. This also includes at least five team leaders, as well as other positions like “Head of Resort Quality.”

The layoffs are expected to continue through April 7th. The employees are not represented by a union and the layoffs are permanent. LEGOLAND Florida, though, has not specified why these particular positions are being removed.

However, the company did release a statement, which said:

“At LEGOLAND Florida Resort we are making operational changes to help us elevate the guest experience in 2025 and beyond.

The decision to reduce the size of our entertainment team was undoubtedly difficult, but these changes will allow the Resort to operate more flexibly and responsively in a competitive market.

We are supporting employees during this period of change, including sharing job opportunities elsewhere in the wider visitor attraction sector in Florida, such as those being created at our new SEA LIFE Florida at the Resort. We will do all we can to help them find alternative employment. ”
