Best Eats

These were our favorite entrees of the festival, in no particular order!

Squid Ink Pasta — Fictional Victuals

Even while we were trying out this Squid Ink Pasta, we were hearing lots of people talk about how good it was. And boy, were they right! You can grab it for $7.75, and you will be glad you did. It tastes similar to regular pasta with truffles, but it also has a briny aftertaste.  It was creamy, cheesy, and one of our favorite dishes we tried. Plus, the black pasta noodles just look so cool.

Deviled Egg Trio — The Artist’s Table

We were so surprised at how well a trio of deviled eggs tasted. The Deviled Egg Trio costs $6.25 and includes three styles of deviled eggs: Pimento Cheese, Green Goddess, and BLT. There is so much flavor in these eggs and we enjoyed each of the three immensely. Deviled egg fans, you need to make a beeline over to The Artist’s Table for this dish.

Carne Asada — El Artista Hambriento

The Carne Asada at this booth was so tender. It is chipotle-marinated beef sirloin, grilled queso fresco, Nopales salad with queso fresco foam, and chicharron dust. Everything partnered together in the best way, and the queso was deliciously cheesy (our favorite). It is a little pricier at $10.75, but we really enjoyed it.

Deconstructed BLT — Deconstructed Dish

The Deconstructed BLT here is worth the $7.25, plus it’s just fun to play with your food like a kid, again! Since it’s deconstructed, you can eat each part separately, but we recommend butting it all together for the best experience. You get pork belly, onion bread pudding, watercress espuma, and tomato jam for the fanciest BLT you may ever have, and it’s wonderful.

Wild Mushroom Risotto — Gourmet Landscapes

The Wild Mushroom Risotto is our top plant-based pick of the festival. But don’t count it out if you’re not on a plant-based diet. This was our favorite food item at the Gourmet Landscapes booth! It’s warm, salty, and deliciously earthy. Plus, you will likely be surprised at how creamy it is! Of course, you gotta love mushrooms to enjoy this dish, but it was a hit for us. It is $9.75.

Sushi Donut — Goshiki

The Sushi Donut is a returning favorite for a lot of folks. It features salmon, tuna, shrimp, cucumber, and sesame seed over a decorated plate of wasabi aïoli, sriracha aïoli, and eel sauce. The fish melts in your mouth as you enjoy this savory donut. Our only complaint would be that we would have liked a bit more sauce to go with it. But that wouldn’t stop us from spending $8.75 to get it again.

There were LOTS  of great food options at the festival. Whether you like these or one of the many other items, we hope you find an entree that you love!

Now, on to the best desserts!

Best Desserts

The best desserts of the festival, in no particular order, were…

Butterscotch Milk Shake — Fictional Victuals

The Butterscotch Milk Shake costs $5, and we think it is worth every penny. It had a super rich butterscotch taste, and the chocolate garnish just topped it all off. It will definitely be a crowd pleaser!

Enchanted Rose — Opening Bites

The Enchanted Rose is a milk chocolate rose with a raspberry and rose center. This was our favorite thing at the Opening Bites booth and also one of our favorite desserts of the whole festival. We adored the combination of creamy chocolate and fruity raspberry jam. Plus, the petals have a candy-like texture that adds a lovely crunch to the dessert. You can get this dessert for $6.50.

Enchanted Rose

Deconstructed Key Lime Pie — Deconstructed Dish

This dessert’s beautiful display reminds us of Inside Out when Joy and Bing Bong are deconstructed. It’s fun and gorgeous. And luckily, the flavor lives up to its looks! It’s a lovely, bright, and refreshing item. The flavors are great and it’s so much better when you mix all the items together. You can get this combo for $6.50.

Deconstructed Key Lime Pie

Best of Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine

If you complete the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine, you can grab yourself a prize! Some of our favorite options for completing the walk include two of our best desserts of the fest: the Enchanted Rose and the Deconstructed Key Lime Pie. If you are looking for additional choices to get your completer prize, here are some of our other favorites:

Chorizo and Potato Empanada — Vibrante & Vivido

Vibrante & Vívido did not let us down again this year. This empanada comes loaded with spicy chorizo! You may want to steer away if you’re not a fan of spicy foods. But if you can handle a little heat, we highly recommend this item for $6.75.

Chorizo and Potato Empanada

Citrus-Braised Beet Tartare — Gourmet Landscapes

While this dish is plant-based, it packs so much flavor and deliciousness! The Citrus-Braised Beet Tartare costs $5.50. The various ingredients work together super well and we were so impressed how the spices made the beets taste super savory. This dish has lots of freshness and it could be a great option to get one stamp closer to your completer prize!

Citrus Braised Beet Tartare

We were impressed with many of the dishes at this year’s festival! It definitely made it hard to choose our favorite items.
