The holiday season is here, but that hasn’t kept Disney from making some big announcements this December.
We recently got opening timelines for some upcoming projects including the Test Track re-theme, the Spaceship Earth lounge, and the Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern. Well, Disney made even more announcements recently, so let’s take a look at what we’ve learned.

Disney World
EPCOT Festival of the Arts Disney on Broadway Dining Packages
The EPCOT Festival of the Arts is just a month away and ahead of the festival, we’ve already learned about the dining packages that will be available for the festival’s Disney on Broadway series. The EPCOT Festival of the Arts runs from January 17th through February 24th.
Menu Released for New Restaurant
Wailulu Bar and Grill will be the new restaurant in Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We finally got a look at the full menu, which features a variety of delicious foods like Sweet Potato Hummus, Wayfinder Burger, Poke Bowl, Dole Whip Sundae, and more.
Island Tower is set to open on December 17th.
Disneyland
70th Anniversary Celebration
Disneyland is celebrating a huge milestone in 2025: the resort’s 70th anniversary. The big celebration begins on May 16th, 2025, and will run through summer 2026. It will include a new version of World of Color called World of Color Happiness, but Disney is also bringing back the Paint The Night Parade for the event.
The Wondrous Journeys fireworks show will also be returning, while the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” parade will return to Disney California Adventure. Sleeping Beauty Castle will also get a makeover, while Mickey and his friends will get special 70th Anniversary celebration outfits.
Dates for Disneyland Events
If that wasn’t enough, Disney also dropped some important dates for every big Disneyland event in 2025. Not only did we get dates for the 70th Anniversary Celebration, but we also got dates for Halloween Time, Plaza de la Familia, the Holidays, and the Festival of Holidays.
Disney also shared dates for upcoming After Dark events, including Sweethearts Nite, 90s Nite, Star Wars Nite, Pride Nite, and Oogie Boogie Bash. Check all the dates out here.
Closing Date for Red Car Trolley
The Red Car Trolley in California Adventure will be closing to make room for the big Avengers Campus expansion that Disney is planning for that park. Now we know when the trolley will close: February 9th, 2025.
In the meantime, Disney will be adding two new attractions to Avengers Campus: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. These additions meant the closure of the Red Car Trolley barn, which means the closing of the iconic attraction, too.
Opening Date Announced for Walt Disney Animatronic Show
Disney previously announced a show called Walt Disney: A Magical Life would be coming to Disneyland in 2025. This show will feature the first-ever animatronic of the man himself, Walt Disney.
The show will open on May 16th inside the Main Street Opera House and will play in rotation with the current show there, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

The decision to close the red car is just so wrong. I love the red car and it really is a beautiful throwback to another time and goes perfectly with Carthay Circle. Avengers doesn’t warrant closing the red car. Last comment – please stop with Pride Nite. It is anti-family.
The closing of the trolley car notwithstanding, your homophobia is showing. Pride Night is a great night celebrating the LGBT community. Families come in all shapes and sizes. The great thing about the Disney parks is that they’re for EVERYONE to enjoy, whether or not you agree. Disney celebrates diversity, so if you don’t like it, don’t go.
