Several big updates are coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom!

Not only does Disney have an expansion planned for “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad” and a new ride coming soon in the form of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but they’re also revamping a classic show. That’s right, let’s talk about Country Bear Jamboree!
Country Bear Jamboree is temporarily closed in Magic Kingdom as it receives some significant renovations. During the closure, Disney plans to update the show to fit more with the times…but these changes were not necessarily well-received by long-time fans of the show.

When Disney first announced the Country Bear overhaul, many dedicated fans expressed their displeasure online. And on the last day the old version of the attraction was open, lines were LONG as people stopped by to pay their respects. But in the past few days, the opinions have gotten mixed.

Recently, Disney shared a first look at some of the new costumes for the animatronics for the show. Namely, we got to see new looks for Bubbles, Bunny, and Beulah — the trio known as the Sun Bonnets.

The new costumes feature a pink western-inspired look, complete with vests and matching cowboy hats. Here’s a look at what the Sun Bonnets wore previously — blue babydoll tops and matching bonnets.

So how has this costume announcement changed the public opinion about Country Bear Jamboree? Well, since the new costumes were revealed, we’ve seen the commentary shift significantly. Even on our own posts about the news, we’ve heard from followers who decided that they’re suddenly much more excited about the overhaul.

Some people have even spoken up and said that the care put into refreshing the animatronics is giving them hope for a better refurbishment. Overall, the reception of the costumes has been trending positive.

When Country Bear Jamboree reopens, it will be a whole new show! Disney will be incorporating several different country music styles into the new soundtrack, and the bears will sing country versions of Disney tunes.

On top of those changes, one bear will be getting a new name! Liver Lips McGrowl has been renamed to Romeo McGrowl, and it looks like he might be getting a wig as well. (At least, according to the new poster!)

We can’t wait to see what Country Bear Jamboree has in store when it reopens this summer! We’ll keep you updated with more details as Disney announces additional information.
