Let’s face it — when most people think of Disney World, the first park that comes to mind is Magic Kingdom.

Magic Kingdom was the first park in Disney World, which already makes it the most special, but it’s also the one with the iconic Cinderella Castle, as well as those nightly fireworks that make nearly everyone cry. It’s also got its hardcore fans, and we’ve figured out that there are five types of Magic Kingdom fans.

The First-Timer

We can always spot the first timers in Magic Kingdom because they’re the ones that will literally STOP with their jaws dropped in sheer awe when they first step on Main Street, U.S.A., and see Cinderella Castle for the first time. Bonus points if they’re crying (although, we honestly do this almost EVERY time).

These are also the people who are visibly frustrated trying to use Genie+ for the first time (we get it), and who may not understand the ins and outs of Mobile Order and look a little lost when they’re picking up their order. No biggie, we’ve all been there.

The Social Media Star

You’ll know the social media stars by the phone that’s always in their hands either pointing directly at themselves or pointing at their hand, which is probably holding a Mickey Bar or some other Disney food with Cinderella Castle in the background (gotta’ get that money shot). Those photos and videos are IMMEDIATELY going up on Instagram and TikTok.

The Napper

There’s always that one Magic Kingdom fan who doesn’t waste time getting in some shut-eye when the opportunity arises. Usually, that happens while riding the Carousel of Progress or sitting inside The Hall of Presidents.

Sure, the napper is missing out on those attractions, but they’re indoors with air conditioning, and the sweet lullaby of “There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” is coaxing them to sleep. There’s also a good chance we’ve caught some zzz’s on the PeopleMover, too.

The Matching Shirts

We’ve all seen them: the folks in the matching shirts. Maybe they’re having a family reunion (the shirt will say so) or they’re just a big family on vacation together. Maybe they’re just a group of friends who insisted on matching shirts for their day in Magic Kingdom.

But it takes a certain kind of group to pull off the matching shirt, so more power to them, we guess. Some of the shirts might even be funny, although they’re probably an in-joke that no one outside the group would even get.

The Experts

The Experts are those folks who are so into Magic Kingdom, that they can tell you the ENTIRE history of Haunted Mansion (including the history of Hatbox Ghost) or Pirates of the Caribbean (and they’ll start with “Did you know Pirates of the Caribbean wasn’t an opening day attraction in Magic Kingdom?”).

These people might just be generally obsessed with Disney history as a whole, or they may just be focused entirely on one thing, like all the hidden Mickeys in Fantasyland, the history of Frontierland, or maybe they have to tell you exactly how the Dole Whip became such an iconic Disney snack.

So which Magic Kingdom fan are you? For most of us, we’re kinda’ a combination of all of these. Regardless, Magic Kingdom has earned its status as something to be a fan of, so wear that fandom proudly!
