Don’t Waste Your Money at These Magic Kingdom Restaurants

Disney World is home to some great food … and some not-so-great options.

Be Our Guest Restaurant

We give you our honest, unbiased opinions on all of the different foods we try inside the parks, and sometimes that means we have to be honest that we aren’t a fan of something. Magic Kingdom has lots of restaurants, and like anywhere else, some are better than others. So, let’s go through some restaurants that we don’t recommend spending your money on in Magic Kingdom.

First up, Fry Bucket shared the best things she ate in Magic Kingdom, and you can watch that video right here!

Be Our Guest Restaurant

Now hear us out first — Be Our Guest Restaurant is a fantastic spot for some of the best immersive theming you’ll find in Magic Kingdom. It really brings the Beast’s Castle to life, but that doesn’t mean the food necessarily warrants the price tag.

Be Our Guest has amazing atmosphere

It’s very true that most of the price tag at this spot is for the experience, not for the food, but that’s a really high price to pay for a meal that you may not enjoy. Additionally, unlike at Cinderella’s Royal Table where you can meet multiple characters, you only get to wave at the Beast here and that’s it. Overall, we’d actually recommend heading to Cinderella’s Royal Table instead to get more bang for your buck.

Tony’s Town Square

Tony’s Town Square is doing much better than it has in recent years thanks to a recent menu overhaul, but after so many years of being less than great, it’s going to take some time to earn back the guests’ trust.

Tony’s Town Square

Now, if you haven’t eaten here in many years and you’re a fan of Italian food, we DO say to give this one a try if you’re going in with an open mind. We were pleasantly surprised by most of the menu the last time we went, and Disney restaurants are always changing (for better and worse), but we wouldn’t recommend putting this at the top of your list.

Pinocchio Village Haus

Our first quick service on the list is Pinocchio Village Haus for one major reason — it’s not very consistent.

Pinocchio Village Haus

We’ve had a few good options here over the years, but more often than not, the dining options here don’t impress us. Not to mention that there are tons of other options right in Fantasyland that we’d recommend over this one in a heartbeat.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe

Don’t freak out just yet, okay, we have a good reason for Cosmic Ray’s being on this list! This is one of the largest quick service spots in Magic Kingdom and while you’ll absolutely get decent food here, there are so many other better options.

Cosmic Ray’s lines

If you’ve got a picky eater, or you are one yourself, then this is a great option, but if you’re looking for a great meal, there are better quick service options to go to, we promise! Plus, since this is one of the main staples, it’s almost always very crowded.

So now that we’ve told you where NOT to eat, allow us to recommend some better options to you!

  1. You guys keep recommending skipper canteen. My son and I ate there in October. We had the secret menu item – the Brazilian bread – it was good. We also had several of the other appetizers. All were tasty. But the experience was not great.

We have seen in your videos that the servers are supposed to be like an extension of the jungle cruise. We expected a little more. We were barely waited on.

I don’t know if it was just because it was only two of us or because we were just ordering appetizers and dessert – we weren’t eating skimpy we just didn’t want an entire meal. We really felt that our servers were not thrilled to have us there.

I’m returning to Magic Kingdom this January with my father-in-law and friend and we will definitely be skipping the skipper canteen.
