6 CHANGES Happening in October in Disney World

There’s been a LOT of new developments in Disney World lately, so it’s high time we go over some of the major things happening soon. Ready to learn everything you need to know about the changes happening in Disney World this October?

Journey of Water, Inspired By Moana

Even though the Halloween season started way back in August at Disney World, October is the official month of Halloween. That means you can find plenty of fall treats, Halloween decorations, and (of course) pumpkin spice drinks this October. But there’s even more to celebrate this year, so let’s check out all the big changes coming to Disney World this October.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana

OK, we’re starting with arguably the biggest news of the year: Journey of Water, Inspired By Moana has an OPENING DATE, and it’s this October!

See what it looks like at night?! STUNNING!

The interactive walkthrough attraction will officially open on October 16th, 2023. We have a feeling that the attraction will be pretty crowded on opening day, so if you’re headed to EPCOT this October, prepare for some long lines.

There’s so much to explore here!

But wait — that’s not the only new thing coming to EPCOT! A new Moana meet-and-greet is set to take place right inside Journey of Water. Disney shared some concept art ahead of Moana’s EPCOT debut.

Disney explained, “Moana is an adventurous explorer, and her voyages may bring her to World Nature from time to time. Be on the lookout for this wayfinder from Motunui near the entrance to Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana—and enjoy a special visit with her.”

Disney’s Hollywood Studios UPDATE

According to the Disney World website, there is one day that you might not want to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Hollywood Studios

Look out for an EARLY park closure on one special day in October. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close at 5PM on October 17th, 2023.

Beware!

That same day, Magic Kingdom will close at 6PM for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 7PM. That’s three out of four parks set to close pretty early in one day!
