There’s been a LOT of new developments in Disney World lately, so it’s high time we go over some of the major things happening soon. Ready to learn everything you need to know about the changes happening in Disney World this October?
Even though the Halloween season started way back in August at Disney World, October is the official month of Halloween. That means you can find plenty of fall treats, Halloween decorations, and (of course) pumpkin spice drinks this October. But there’s even more to celebrate this year, so let’s check out all the big changes coming to Disney World this October.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
The interactive walkthrough attraction will officially open on October 16th, 2023. We have a feeling that the attraction will be pretty crowded on opening day, so if you’re headed to EPCOT this October, prepare for some long lines.
But wait — that’s not the only new thing coming to EPCOT! A new Moana meet-and-greet is set to take place right inside Journey of Water. Disney shared some concept art ahead of Moana’s EPCOT debut.
Disney explained, “Moana is an adventurous explorer, and her voyages may bring her to World Nature from time to time. Be on the lookout for this wayfinder from Motunui near the entrance to Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana—and enjoy a special visit with her.”
Disney’s Hollywood Studios UPDATE
According to the Disney World website, there is one day that you might not want to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Look out for an EARLY park closure on one special day in October. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close at 5PM on October 17th, 2023.
That same day, Magic Kingdom will close at 6PM for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 7PM. That’s three out of four parks set to close pretty early in one day!
Animation Experience at Conservation Station
Here’s some FUN news for you! Between October 1st and October 31st, a few Disney villains will be the subjects of the drawing classes at Conservation Station.
The Animation Experience at Conservation Station is a fun little activity where guests can learn step-by-step how to draw all kinds of Disney characters. Just in time for Halloween, this drawing class will focus on VILLAINS for the entire month of October. How fun!
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit
Over in EPCOT, there’s a special fall-themed scavenger hunt happening all month long! Between September 29th and October 31st, guests can play the Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit scavenger hunt.
To play, guests purchase a map and walk through EPCOT to hunt for Disney character-inspired pumpkins. In the end, you win a prize!
Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary
Remember how we said October 16th is a big day? Well, it’s not just the opening day of Journey of Water — it’s also The Walt Disney Company’s official 100th Anniversary!
So far, Disney has been celebrating throughout the year, but we may get some special offerings on October 16th. We’ll have to wait and see!
There you have it! That concludes our look at some of the big changes coming to Disney World this October. What are you most excited to see in Disney World this fall?
