There are over 200 restaurants in Disney World, which means there are going to be some AMAZING places to eat, as well as some not-so-amazing places to eat.

Now, it’s probably no argument that certain restaurants in Disney World are beyond reproach and are fan favorites for both food and atmosphere. However, there are others that almost everyone hates, but we still see LOADS of people dining there every day.
So let’s look at those restaurants that you hate, but eat at anyway. Don’t worry, though — we don’t judge because we do it, too.
Tony’s Town Square Restaurant
The fact that there’s an Italian restaurant in Magic Kingdom dedicated to Lady and the Tramp is enough to get people inside Tony’s Town Square, although EVERYONE knows the food really isn’t that great. The atmosphere may be the big draw here, or maybe people just keep returning in hopes that the food might get better.

It hasn’t yet, but you’re going to back that advance dining reservation for this spot anyway.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
Who goes to Disney World to eat mediocre burgers and chicken fingers? Well, kids certainly do, as do their parents. But we always see a LOT of people at Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom enjoying the vocal stylings of Sonny Eclipse (which we totally get).

Of course, one of the big draws here is that there is PLENTY of seating, which isn’t something that a lot of Magic Kingdom quick-service restaurants offer. So sometimes, you just want to sit down, rest your feet, and eat whatever is available at a place that gives you just that.

PizzeRizzo
We’re just going to point out that this is a pizza joint run by a rat, which should make people run screaming away from it. But PizzeRizzo is often crowded, so we know people want that rat pizza. It’s certainly not GREAT pizza, but when you’ve got hungry people to feed quickly, maybe PizzeRizzo is all you need.

However, if you love the Muppets, you need to go inside PizzeRizzo at least once.
Restaurantosaurus
Restaurantosaurus in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is similar to PizzeRizzo in that it has a GREAT theme, but pretty much standard theme park food (but, hey, sometimes that’s what you want). There are a ton of fun theming things to enjoy here, but you’re still going to be eating burgers and chicken fingers. The kids, though, will love it.

However, Restaurantosaurus is almost ALWAYS busy, so that just goes to show that sometimes simple really might be best for many Disney World guests.
Rainforest Cafe
Okay, so Rainforest Cafe has two locations in Disney World: one in Animal Kingdom and one at Disney Springs. It’s not even a Disney World-specific restaurant and you can usually find one in every major city in the U.S. Sure, those robotic animals are kinda’ cool, but why would you want to eat somewhere you can eat at pretty much ANYWHERE in the U.S.?

Still, kids love those robot animals, and it’s usually easy to get a seat, so people are going to eat there regardless. The food? Well, it’s okay. So there’s that.

Chef Mickey’s
We actually DO understand the appeal of Chef Mickey’s. It’s in a classic Disney World hotel, Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Plus it gives you an opportunity to have a meal with all your favorite Disney characters, like Mickey and Minnie. We know the character aspect is why people eat here. As far as the food goes…well, let’s just say breakfast is a bit better than lunch and dinner. But it’s not great.

But this is still one dining reservation that is still hard to get for all three meals, so we know guests are eating there. It’s gotta’ be the Mickey factor.

So yes, Disney World does have its share of restaurants that aren’t great, but they still appeal to a wide variety of Disney World guests, and perhaps that’s part of their charm. To each their own, we always say, so eat where you want to!
