5 Things You Could Do With the Money You Were Going to Spend at the Star Wars Hotel in Disney World

The famous Star Wars Hotel is closing, and admittedly, we’re still in shock. Anyone else? After all, the hotel (or should we say, “experience”) opened just one year ago on March 1st, 2022. Time flies when you’re burning money!

Star Wars Hotel

In honor of the big announcement, we’ve compiled a list of five things you can do with the money you could have spent on a voyage aboard the Galactic Starcruiser. If you’ve got a few thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket, we’re here to give you some inspiration!

For the sake of simplicity, we’re going to round the cost to $5,000, which is roughly the price of the Galactic Starcruiser experience for a party of two. So our fantasy budget is capped at $5K.

1. Enjoy a month-long staycation on Disney property

First of all, let us remind you that the duration of the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience is just two nights. For $5,000. Two nights.

Starcruiser Stateroom

For that same amount, you could instead stay at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort for 24 days, estimating that the cost of the room is about $202 per night. (In fact, this would keep you UNDER budget!)

If you happened to find a seasonal promotion, you might even be able to stay LONGER! Of course, this is all a hypothetical exercise, so we can’t necessarily guarantee that you’d be able to stay in the same hotel room for 24 days straight. But hey, when nearly $5,000 is on the table, you never know!

2. Stay at one of Disney’s most expensive Deluxe hotels for a week

Now that we’ve covered what $5,000 will get you at one of Dinsey’s cheapest hotels, let’s look at one of the most expensive hotels. (Besides the Starcruiser, anyway)

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

If we estimate that the room is about $804 a night, a 6-night stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort would come out to just under $5,000. That’s a lot longer than two nights!

And if we’re being honest here, between the signature dining options at the Grand Floridian and the charming Victorian theming, many people probably prefer this Deluxe Resort over the Star Wars Hotel anyway!

There are some fantastic dining options here!

Don’t worry; there’s plenty to do at this hotel, so there’s no need to even visit the Disney parks!

The Enchanted Rose

During your fantasy staycation, we’re picturing a day at the pool, a trip to the spa, and a night watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the resort. And hey, why not end the night with a drink at the Enchanted Rose Lounge?

3. Buy exactly 794 Mickey Premium Bars

Have you ever wanted to be the generous stranger that hands out freebies to Disney guests? For the low, low price of $4,962.50, you can buy 794 Mickey Premium Bars and treat a few hundred people to a little dessert.

Who doesn’t love Mickey Bars?

Or, you could keep them all for yourself, though it might take a while to get through that many Mickey Bars. If you want to do more snack math, each Mickey bar is $6.25, so if you wanted to treat 10,000 people to one Mickey ice cream treat each, you’d need a cool $62,500. No biggie, right?

4. Treat 20 people to the lightsaber experience at Savi’s Workshop

Now, if you were going to spend $5,000 on a Star Wars experience, it seems only fair to give you another Star Wars-related option to spend that cash. Disney charges $249.99 per lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop in Galaxy’s Edge.

If you’re feeling generous, you could treat yourself and your 19 closest friends to the Savi’s experience at Hollywood Studios. Lightsabers for everyone! (Or should we say, lightsabers for 20 people exactly and not a single person more to stay within the budget!)

5. Give your car a Disney-inspired MAKEOVER

This one might take a little extra math, so be prepared to whip out a spreadsheet. But if you’ve dreamed of having a car like that glorious Hyundai Disney100 Concept Vehicle, you can plus-up your existing car in lieu of buying a brand-new IONIQ 5.

Just head down to your local car shop, show them a picture of the Disney100 car, and tell them to work their magic with a $5,000 budget. Easy, right? Okay, probably not, BUT for $5,000, you could at least get some new Disney-inspired car accessories.

Turns out it’s pretty easy to spend $5,000, so forget the 2-night stay at the Star Wars Hotel and go buy some Mickey Bars (or, you know, you could invest it or do something practical with all that money, but that’s no fun)!
