Whether it’s the food, the entertainment, the merchandise, or the rides, chances are there’s something you love about the parks. And soon, there will be even more to love thanks to all the changes Disney is making — including to an iconic attraction.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening in Magic Kingdom next year, and Disney is already working hard to transform what once was Splash Mountain into this new ride.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

It picks up after the end of The Princess and The Frog, where Tiana has successfully opened her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. The story of this new ride starts in the queue, where guests learn that Tiana has also started Tiana’s Foods, an employee-owned cooperative. By combining her talents with the community’s, they’ve turned an old salt mine into a beloved brand.

Tiana purchased the salt mine and the large salt dome it operated from, and with the help of her mother Eudora, Naveen, Louis, and fellow owners of the cooperative, she began to grow vegetables, spices, and herbs for her recipes on the revived land.

We’ve been keeping up with the progress, and now a recently filed permit might mean that things are really ramping up.

Walt Disney Imagineering is creating an original, next chapter story for Tiana. Within the attraction queue, guests will discover that she continues to grow her business with Tiana’s Foods – an employee-owned cooperative. Combining her talents with those of the local community, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand. (DISNEY)

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for work on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! The description is for “Scenic Prop install and theme paint touch up,” and from what we can see, the address matches up with the location of the former Splash Mountain. Of course, there aren’t any specific details, but this could mean we might start to see more props installed in this area.

More changes are coming

Another interesting permit was filed recently — this time for EPCOT. It’s an Imagineering permit as well, but this one looks like it might have something to do with the west side of the CommuniCore area behind Spaceship Earth. The description is for installing signs, but we’ll keep an eye out in case we notice anything in the parks from the monorail!

Construction everywhere!

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Disney permits and changes that could be on the way, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!
