Welcome to Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort!

Port Orleans Riverside is a moderate resort at Disney World. There’s another side to the resort — Port Orleans French Quarter — but for this post, we’ll just be focusing on Port Orleans Riverside and showing you what a standard room looks like over there!
We’ve done a whole AllEars video to talk all about Port Orleans Riverside, but what does a standard room really look like? Is it worth it to drop all that money to stay in a moderate room when there are cheaper options available? Let’s head inside and let you make that decision for yourself.

It’s important to note that these standard rooms open to the outside (like motel doors do), meaning you will have people walking around the outside of the resort that will pass by.

On the inside of the door, you’ll notice a few things.

There’s a extra lock…

…an evacuation route guide…

…and the normal door handle with another lock and a sign you can place on the outside saying the room is occupied.

Immediately when you walk inside the room, there is a window to your left that faces outside. This is the only window in the room.

You can choose to keep the curtains open or shut them for privacy.

Be sure to look closely at the curtains — there are some really neat details.

Underneath the window, you’ll find the AC/heating unit.

And to the right of the unit, you’ll find a trash and recycling bin.

If your back is to the door, this is your view of the room!

Next to the trash and recycling bin, you’ll find a table with two chairs.

The chairs also have detailing you won’t want to miss!

On the table, you’ll find some brochures to help you continue to plan your vacation and information on housekeeping.

Next to the table, you’ll find the TV and the dresser.

On top of the dresser, you’ll find a coffee maker…

…the TV remotes and a set of outlets (including 2 USB ports)…

…and some cups with your ice chest.

The left side of the dresser is actually your mini fridge where you can store anything you wish.

The right side has three drawers you can use for your clothes.

Immediately to the right of the dresser, you’ll find a green bench…

…with a fixture to hang your jackets and coats above it!

If you immediately turn around from this spot, you’ll be facing the two queen beds.

Underneath the beds, you’ll find plenty of space for your suitcases, or anything else you need to store.

In the middle of the two beds is a nightstand.

On top of it, you’ll find the in-room phone, more outlets, light switches to control the lights above the beds, and another brochure.

Inside the nightstand drawer, you can find a Bible.

You’ll find one of these light fixtures above each of the beds. They can be controlled by the light switches in between the beds.

And don’t miss the detailing on the headboards!

Each bed has four pillows…

…and we found a special Mickey-shaped towel when we arrived!

To the left of the beds, you’ll find a photo on the wall that matches the theme of the room.

To the left of the photo, you’ll find a themed curtain that will take you to the bathroom.

Right next to the curtain, you can find the thermostat to control the temperature of the room.

Just past the curtain, you’ll find the dual sinks in the bathroom.

In between the sinks, you’ll find some H2O+ products.

At the right of the sinks, you’ll find a smaller makeup mirror and an outlet.

Underneath the sinks, you’ll find some more amenities.

Like more towels…

…a hair dryer…

…and more toilet paper.

To the left of the sinks, you’ll find where you can hang your clothes.

Over here you’ll find an iron…

…an ironing board…

…extra pillows and blankets and the safe.

Turning around to face the right side of the sinks, you’ll find the rest of the bathroom with an separate door.

The shower has a different colored curtain.

Inside the shower, you’ll find all the amenities.

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are to the right of the shower…

…and to the left, you’ll find a stainless steel shower head…

…the knob to turn the shower on…

…and the shower diverter down at the bottom.

And that’s all for your Port Orleans Riverside room!

Do you think it’s worth it to stay at this resort? Tell us in the comments!
We stayed here years ago. I am really sorry Disney felt the need to ‘IP’ everything. Sometimes adults need a break from the mouse.
Just back from a 10 day stay at Port Orleans- Riverside, we had a standard room on Alligator Bayou with a riverside view. Our interior was a bit different to the one pictured, we had a murphy bed that when not used was a nice bench with storage drawers underneath. Bathroom I think had been updated as had flooring. Lovely bedding, I wanted to take my pillow home.
Resort is big but this is not noticeable as its very well designed, food areas are good and staff are very friendly, I needed milk for my tea and coffee and they were happy to help me. Rest of the staff were all extremely friendly and polite, I’m British so we notice these things. The boat service to Disney Springs is one I would recommend over the buses – that is the one service that needs massive improvements, bus service to the parks is very good but if going to Disney Springs then get the the boat.
Overall we had a fabulous experience and would go back again, previously, many years ago we have stayed at Movies resort and Polynesian resort as well as off site, Riverside definitely came up to expectations.
we stayed there on our last trip and loved it. the place is beautiful- the grounds are gorgeous! the boat to disney springs is wonderful. we want to go back but the park reservations, genie plus and crowds have us hesitating to go right now
Stayed here with all family. Had emergency with our mother. Staff and management immediately jumped in and helped. We couldn’t of been more greatful. Fantastic place.
