Sometimes you walk into the Disney World parks ready to take on the rides with nothing to stop you, until something happens unexpectedly.

We’ve seen popular rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, and even the Peoplemover close in the past, go down temporarily, and sometimes have to stay closed for a while but when this new attraction went down, it had us concerned so we went to check it out.
On our trip out to Magic Kingdom this morning we noticed something strange. TRON Lightcycle / Run is showing as temporarily closed. At the current time, there are only two ways to gain access to this ride: Virtual Queue, and a paid Individual Lightning Lane so we knew this was a big deal!

When we first arrived at the park, the ride was in operation but within just minutes of the park opening to all guests, it was unexpectedly closed. For those that may not be familiar, TRON Lightcycle / Run is Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction that can be found in Tomorrowland.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is a thrilling coaster that launches you around an outdoor curve to propel you “into the grid” and on to face the Orange Team in the show building during your ride.

By the time we made our way over to Tomorrowland and up to the TRON section of the park, we noticed the vehicles testing as is standard for rides when they’ve temporarily closed.
This was a good sign because it meant that Disney was trying to reopen the ride as quickly as possible. We also spoke to a cast member outside of the ride that confirmed to us that even in inclement weather the ride will still operate due to the ginormous canopy structure covering the ride above.

After about 30 minutes or so, the ride officially reopened to boarding riders again. Disney does its best to try to reopen the ride as quickly as possible when it goes down for technical difficulties. This can be tricky when a ride is extremely popular (and new) with so many people anticipating their ride for the day.
Another super popular attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance over in Hollywood Studios, was closed this morning as well. This ride often has technical difficulties, but it usually pops back up later in the day. Keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app during your day for the most up-to-date info!
