MAJOR Changes at TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom

We got some seriously exciting TRON Lightcycle / Run news recently!

First, Disney teased us about the opening date and then they finally announced the coaster would open on April 4th, 2023. It seems like things are progressing quickly, and we even spotted a BIG change at the ride in Magic Kingdom!

The construction walls have disappeared from one area over near TRON! Previously, this view was blocked by some pretty tall temporary construction walls, but now Disney has replaced them with bushes instead.

You might be thinking, “What’s so great about bushes?!” Well, it might mean that Disney is preparing to put whatever final touches are needed in place so that they can remove the bushes altogether and reveal the attraction! Of course, now that we know the ride will open on April 4th, we could start to see more and more construction updates at TRON.

The story of the TRON coaster will pick up after TRON: Legacy, when Kevin’s son, Sam Flynn, opens up a “second gateway into a digital realm called the Grid.” The first of these two portals can be found at Shanghai Disneyland, and when you enter the queue for the one at Magic Kingdom you’ll “feel as if you’re digitized and transported to the Grid for a special Lightcycle race.”

When you’re on the ride, you’re on Team Blue going up against the Grid’s Programs, Team Orange. Your goal is to be the first to race through the eight Energy Gates. When it opens, the ride will be one of the fastest coasters at any of the international Disney parks.
