The Disney World Ride Malfunction That Left Us VERY Concerned for Ariel

You know that Friday feeling when you’re so close to the end of a week that feels like it has dragged on FOREVER? We totally get it — it’s tough to keep functioning through the last day of work when the weekend is in your sights!

Reaching for the weekend like

Today, we spotted one princess in Disney World who’s experiencing that Friday fatigue. And we’re just going to be brutally honest here: it was a little bit scary. 😬

This morning, we hopped on the Journey of the Little Mermaid ride in Magic Kingdom to get our day started off right with some Under the Sea jams.

But little did we know that we were in for a much scarier ride than we were ever expecting — and not just because of Ursula the Sea Witch.

When we reached the point in the ride where Ariel sings the classic “Part of Your World,” we noticed that something seemed a little off…. Check out our video here and see if you spot it too.

Did you see it? The animatronic was malfunctioning, and Ariel’s mouth was hardly moving at all. Apparently, she checked out early for the weekend! We’re used to seeing these kinds of glitches on Disney attractions — with advanced tech like the kind used on rides, some bumps are bound to happen. But what scared us this time is that Ariel sort of looks like she has no teeth!

We know Ursula stole her voice…but did she also steal Ariel’s teeth?? Luckily, we double-checked in a couple of other places, and we can confirm that Ariel usually does in fact have teeth.

Hopefully, Disney gets this animatronic fixed soon so that Ariel can once again move her mouth to the music! Keep following AllEars for more of the latest news from Disney World.

  1. We saw this same malfunction a few weeks ago. Mentioned it to a cast member and she said, “We’re waiting for her braces to come in!” 😂 Hopefully Disney is aware and fixes it. Malfunctions like that are just plain scary for kids.
