Rides in Disney World close temporarily all the time for many different reasons, but if you’re already on the ride when it malfunctions — you might be evacuated.

Today in Disney World, a popular Magic Kingdom ride was evacuated due to smoke, and here’s what we saw!
Tomorrowland Speedway in Magic Kingdom seems to be having issues today! All ride vehicles were stopped after a ride vehicle was seen smoking, and the ride was subsequently closed.

Tomorrowland Speedway has guests board gas-powered cars which are driven around a mini raceway, and apparently one of these cars began smoking. You can take a look at our video of the cars that had to pull over and stop.

There was a LONG line of cars waiting after the ride was stopped.

Cast Members directed guests in operating vehicles to pull up as close as they could to the car ahead of them.

After all the cars were parked closely together, it was time for guests to be evacuated.

Cast Members helped guests exit their vehicles and walk off the track. If you’re ever evacuated from a ride, it’s important to stay calm and follow the instructions from Cast Members. You’re in good hands!

Tomorrowland Speedway is now listed as “temporarily closed” in the My Disney Experience app, but we’ll be checking back to find out when (or if) it reopens today.

We appreciate Cast Members keeping everyone safe in Disney World. Keep reading AllEars for more Disney World news!

Have you ever been evacuated from a ride in Disney World? Tell us in the comments!
We had to climb down off of Splash Mountain at Disney CA when California experienced a statewide power failure August of 2001, and the flume went dry. Just about to plunge off the drop; got a great “behind the scenes” walk down the catwalks inside and around to the front. Hung WAY back, as they were emptying the park, so as to maybe get lucky if the power came back up. Finally got to go back on rides +/- 4 hours later . . .
I wish WDW would convert these car to electric. The exhaust from the current cars is gag worthy. It’s like driving an old lawn mower.
“tomorrow” land. These were cool 40 years ago.
I was evacuated from Its a Small World. It was interesting to see the back side of the ride.
Wow. Malfunctioning puppets. Even The Haunted Mansion couldn’t handle that.
