Disney Shares Details on Grand Finale for Splash Mountain Re-Theme

A big makeover is coming to Splash Mountain at both Disney World and Disneyland soon!

Earlier this year, Disney announced that the classic attraction would be rethemed to a new storyline inspired by the Princess and the Frog, and today we got to learn more about the new characters and scenes that we can expect to see!

We’ve already shared the newest concept art that was revealed by Disney Imagineers for the attraction, and now we’ve got details on the grand finale of the attraction!

According to Charita Carter (Senior Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering), Tiana will be leading guests on an adventure through the Bayou in the updated version of the attraction and the adventure will end with the “Ultimate Mardi Gras Party.” And, why would Imagineers choose a Mardi Gras Party? Well, she says that “If Tiana is throwing a party, it is the ultimate Mardi Gras party.”

This new scene will join many others that guests have to look forward to when the refurbishment is completed, including brand new characters too!

Now, it might be a little while before the Splash Mountain that we know transforms with these new scenes and characters — in a recent update, the Vice President of Magic Kingdom shared that it could be months or even years before Splash Mountain is reimagined. But, in the meantime, you can learn more about what’s to come in the video below!

  1. I Love Splash mtn cause its my Childhood. But Princess and the frig takes place in my Hometown. Mardi gras is the Ultimate party!!!

    So I can’t wait for this Retheme

  2. Splash Mountain should be left alone. It is still one of the most visited attractions in WDW. If they wanted a Princess and the Frog attraction so bad why didn’t they include it in the Fantasy Land expansion. And please tell me how Princess and the Frog fits in Frontier Land.

  3. Why don’t they just use the movie scenes? They’re getting a lot wrong lately. Started with food, pricing, now weird ride changes. I’m not happy about the ride change but do love love Tiana. Just think they’re going too far out of the box.
