We know that construction won’t begin for a while, but today Disney shared some more information about the ride, including some new concept art. And along with the art, we learned more about some new characters coming to the ride!

Today, in a roundtable discussion, Disney noted that the new ride will include some characters that we haven’t yet met! And it looks like a few of these new friends show up in the concept art released.

During the presentation, we got a closer look at a few of these animal pals.

They show up in both the new concept art and the inspiration artwork for the ride, so we’re definitely expecting to see more of them.

Maybe the ride will reveal their backstories or names!

We noticed some crossover with these characters in the artwork designed by Sharika Mahdi. This painting is the inspiration for the ride’s final “Mardi Gras party” scene!

  1. The last picture depicted animals playing musical instruments like Louis. Could these animals be from the original splash mountain? Usually attractions are redone because they get tired or lack of interest. I did not see that with Maelstrom or Splash Mt. Maelstrom was popular up to the 2 year closing to refurbish. I wonder how long Splash will be closed.
