Between hotels, tickets, travel, and souvenirs, a Disney World trip can be pretty costly.
And, while there are a lot of ways to save on your Disney hotel stay, there are some spots that are worth the extra cost if you’re planning to spend some time at the hotel. Whether it’s an upgraded view or a shorter walk to transportation after a long day in the parks, these are the resorts you should consider paying for a better room.
You’ll be happy you paid the extra money for these 7 Disney World Hotels
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
First up is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort which is located just steps away from Magic Kingdom on the monorail line. And, it’s that proximity to the park and other amenities that classify this hotel in the Disney Deluxe Resort, meaning that the cost to stay here per night is pretty pricey.
But, what makes this resort worth the price tag? Well, aside from being a monorail ride away from both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT (when the monorail is running), this resort also boasts fun and unique great dining locations, and a relaxing atmosphere.
Themed after the Polynesian islands (and now Disney’s Moana), here you can find restaurants that serve up Hawaiian-inspired dishes like ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe. Plus, even the Quick Service restaurant has some unique foods like Thai Coconut Meatballs and Pulled Pork Nachos.
And, if you’re craving something sweet, this is the only resort that serves up Dole Whip! You can find it at Pineapple Lanai.
In addition to the food and atmosphere, you’ll also find one of the best views of Magic Kingdom fireworks from the hotel, with guests being able to catch the show every night from the beach. So, you don’t even need to pay for an upgraded room to watch!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
There’s another Magic Kingdom Resort that makes the list — Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! This hotel is also located on the monorail lines that connect to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT (though the EPCOT line is currently closed) and even has a walking path that takes you directly to Magic Kingdom without having to wait in any transportation lines.
But, what makes this hotel so unique is the victorian-era atmosphere and signature restaurants. In fact, it is home to one of the fanciest Table Service restaurants in Disney World, Victoria & Alberts. And, you’ll even find more up-scale offerings at the Quick Service location, Gasparilla Island Grill.
You’ll also have access to even more amenities including a full-service spa that is only steps away from your hotel room. So, you can spend as much time as you need getting some TLC and then hop right back into your room to continue the relaxation.
And, in the evenings, you’ll come back to the hotel to find a live pianist playing in the lobby. Plus, you’ll also have a view of Magic Kingdom fireworks just outside of the Quick Service restaurant.
So, you may be paying Disney Deluxe prices, but if you’re planning to spend a lot of time at the hotel then this spot is worth the cost.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Of course, there’s a third Disney World Resort that’s located on the Magic Kingdom monorail line — Disney’s Contemporary Resort! But, instead of staying in the main tower at the hotel, an upgrade to Bay Lake Tower can make a big difference in your stay.
Now, Bay Lake Tower is the resort’s Disney Vacation Club extension, so you’ll have more room type choices that are beyond the standard 2 Queen beds and bathroom layout. Here you can select from studios to 2 bedrooms to 3 bedrooms, and even rooms with full kitchens so you can take advantage of more space and amenities.
Plus, the building is connected to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, so you’ll still have all the convenience of being within walking distance to Magic Kingdom and on the monorail, but you’ll be a bit more removed from the hustle and bustle.
Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club
Now we’re headed away from Magic Kingdom and over to the EPCOT area for Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts! These are two separate resorts, but they share quite a few amenities like bus transportation and a pool.
And, speaking of the pool, that’s one of the main draws to paying the Disney Deluxe Resort price to stay here. The pool itself spans three acres, has a sand-bottom floor, a lazy river, three whirlpool spas, AND a 230-foot long water slide (making it one of the tallest on Disney World property). There’s so much going on that it can feel like a mini water park and you can spend a lot of time here if you’re visiting in the summer.
Plus, when you’re not hanging out at the pool, you’ll have easy transportation to both EPCOT (which is also within walking distance) and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So, you’ll be close to not one but TWO Disney parks.
Savannah View at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Another hotel that many Disney-goers enjoy staying at is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. But, there’s a big reason to choose the upgraded price over the others when you’re planning your stay at the Disney Deluxe Resort.
One of the best parts of staying at the hotel is being able to watch the animals roam outside from your room, but you’ll only be able to see them if you get a Savannah View which can cost between $100-$200 more per night.
But, if you pay for the upgrade, you’ll have a view of all the animals as they roam freely around the savannah throughout the day. And, though you can view animals from other balcony areas in the resort, you’ll likely be around other guests and may not have a view as high up as you might in a room.
Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs Resort
For this next one, we’re hopping down to the Disney Moderate Resort category at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This hotel received a major update back in 2019 and now has rooms both in the main tower and in smaller surrounding buildings. And, while the surrounding rooms are cheaper, there are some big benefits to staying in the Gran Destino Tower for the additional cost.
The tower now serves as the main entry point for the hotel so you’ll be close to all of the amenities like food, pools, and transportation. Plus, the rooms are newer and some even come with a great view of the resort’s lakes.
All in all, the new details in the tower give the moderate resort a deluxe resort feel at a fraction of the cost. Add that into the proximity to amenities and you’ll be happy you went for the upgraded room.
Disney’s Riviera Resort
And, lastly, we’re heading over to Disney’s Riviera Resort! This is Disney World’s newest Deluxe Resort and is conveniently located on the Disney Skyliner transportation system that takes guests to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
And, along with the convenience of getting to and from two parks without having to hop on a bus, Disney’s Riviera Resort is also home to some of the BEST restaurants in Disney World! For those who are looking for a fun character dining option, the hotel boasts a delicious breakfast character meal at Topolino’s Terrace. And, the restaurant even opens for dinner so you can enjoy your meal with views from the top floor of the hotel in the evening.
Plus, the resort is a bit more condensed than many others, so you won’t be logging tons of steps to get to food, activities, and transportation. And, it’s all new!
