How Disney Controls Shop Capacity May Be Changing Soon!

Disney World has been operating under new health and safety measures since reopening last year.

In addition to reduced park capacity and requiring that all guests wear face masks when inside the park, they’ve also been limiting the number of guests allowed in shops. But, the process for this may be changing soon.

When we stopped in MouseGear on our way into EPCOT, we noticed that a new electronic counter has been installed above the entry door. The new counters will essentially do the job of tallying the number of people entering and exiting to help control the capacity in the stores.

Currently, Cast Members have been stationed at the entrance of each store in Disney World with a tablet to keep count of guests entering and exiting. But, these new counters would potentially eliminate the need for them.

This could help control capacity in the store

When we were visiting, these hadn’t been turned on just yet and a Cast Member was still using a tablet to keep count at the front. Once these are working, Disney hasn’t shared whether a Cast Member will still be stationed at the entrance to control the line outside, but we will continue to keep track of the developments.
