Do You Know the Secret Story Behind This EPCOT Icon?

Update: As of late March 2023, it appears the ability to name the troll is no longer being offered (according to some Cast Members we spoke with). The Instagram account for the troll is also reportedly not being updated anymore.

There are so many hidden secrets and fun details to be found in Disney World’s EPCOT.

World Showcase

Each World Showcase pavilion has tons of touches put in place by Disney’s Imagineers to make that country unique and special. Today we’re sharing the little-known story behind one of Norway’s most recognizable icons, and the secret activity involved!

If you’ve ever visited the gift shop connected to Frozen Ever After, then you definitely spotted this guy…

The forgetful troll

He’s known as “the forgetful troll” and he has a very interesting backstory! He comes to life at night but then turns back to stone when the sun comes up. Because of this, he’s very forgetful — he doesn’t remember anything at all when he wakes up, including his name.

Thankfully, Disney World guests are there to help! The first family to get off of Frozen Ever After each day gets the chance to give him a name. Since it only happens once a day, this is a rare experience for guests in the parks!
