What is the DVC?
The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is Disney’s vacation ownership program that allows members to own a spot in Disney vacation locations.
DVC was created in 1991 by Disney subsidiary, Disney Vacation Development. It works as a point system that gives owners the flexibility to travel when, where, how, and as often as they want.
Can I stay in a DVC room without being a DVC member?/What is a DVC points rental?
Yes! You can stay in a Disney Vacation Club room without being a DVC member! You can book available rooms for a typically exorbitant fee through DisneyWorld.com. This is typically not very cost effective, but it’s the most straightforward way to stay in DVC accommodations without being a member.
But there’s a way to get DVC prices (read: substantially less money) without being a DVC member.
When DVC owners can not use their timeshares, they can choose to rent their points out. Non-members can then rent these points to get a lower rate on DVC rooms, villas, and suites.
One way to rent these points is through a service such as David’s DVC Rentals! David’s works with DVC owners who are looking to rent out points so that non-members can take advantage of the deals!
How much does it cost to rent DVC points?
Different Disney Vacation Club rooms cost different quantities of points. One night can cost somewhere between or around 10 to 100 points depending on the dates, room type, and resort.
The current rate through David’s DVC Rentals is $19 per point for reservations booked up to seven months in advance. Reservations made further out may be subject to an additional premium of $1 per point.
This means you could be staying in a Deluxe Tower Studio room at Disney’s Riviera Resort for around $200 per night compared to the regular rate of over $450.

- Members can also use their points for a variety of other vacations, including other Walt Disney World resorts, the Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, resorts at Disneyland Resort in California and Disneyland Paris, and at over 350 destinations worldwide through RCI (a major timeshare exchange company).
How early can I book a reservation through DVC point rental?
According to the DVC rules, a member (or someone renting points!) can book a reservation at a DVC Resort up to 11 months in advance. David’s DVC Rental can help to determine availability!
What benefits will I get?
Staying at a DVC Resort does not automatically get you member benefits. So, no, you won’t be popping into the DVC Lounge in EPCOT’s Imagination Pavilion.
But you will receive all of the benefits that all guests staying at a Disney Resort receive such as free transportation to and from the parks, enhanced magic hours, and more!

We’ve used David’s many times. They are simply wonderful and will help you with any questions you have.
If you have flexibility, check out their dedicated section. These are somewhat last minute rentals available for specific dates and resorts. You can get really great deals.
Often, we spend less on a dvc room than we would in a moderate resort.

We’re staying at Old Key West in January thanks to David’s DVC Rental! It was a crazy good deal and we’re so excited.
If I already have a hotel reservation and made park pass reservations can I change to a David’s DVC rental (and cancel my old hotel reservation) without having my park pass reservations cancelled by Disney. I would love to do this, but MK and HS reservations are already sold out my week.
the park pass reservations are linked to your tickets not your room. That’s how Fastpasses were anyway.
But to your first question, contact David’s first and if they book you somewhere then cancel with Disney. Good luck!
FYI—-chatted online with David’s. They said yes my park pass reservations are linked to my hotel confirmation and they would be cancelled when I cancel my resort reservation to rebook with David’s.
