After an 8-month absence, Maleficent, in her guise as a Steampunk dragon, returns to the Magic Kingdom’s Festival of Fantasy parade today, January 25.

Back on May 11, 2018, there was an incident in which the dragon float caught fire, causing damage to the float itself, but no injuries. After months of repairs and adding enhanced safety features, the float is now back in action.
Also returning to the parade are other Sleeping Beauty characters: Prince Phillip; the fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather; and Maleficent’s villainous “Ravens.”

The Magic Kingdom’s afternoon parade features characters from a number of beloved Disney stories, from contemporary features like “Tangled” and “Frozen” to the classics “Peter Pan” “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty.”
There are nearly 100 performers featured in this parade — some on stilts, swings and flying rigs — that makes its way daily down Main Street, U.S.A.
